Vancouver office is really slow. Based on progress spreadsheet, nobody from Vancouver area received oath invitation (jan-feb applicants)

Does anyone know if finger prints given during PR application about 5 years ago still good for Citizenship application? How does IRCC decide who to ask to give fingerprints?

For citizenship, any fingerprints older than a year are not valid. You need to give them again.

There is no fixed rule. I never gave fingerprints ever and still got background check completed without being asked for them.
I have a theory. Since I applied for US and UK visas from Canada in the last couple of years, it’s possible that through the Five Eyes Alliance, Canadian authorities already had access to my fingerprints and other data.
It’s just a theory but it makes sense.

Based on what I am seeing, it leans more towards a random request than a standard process. My wife got a request for finger prints and I didn't. I have been in Canada 1 year longer than her and wasn't asked for it.
