My husband and I got our forms sent out yesterday, and it arrived in Mississauga today. Of course, ten minutes after I sealed the big envelope at the post office, I thought of including a voided check which shows both of our names on the account. Oh well.

We opted not to do the medical stuff, hoping that they won't ask for it. Trying to save pennies since it's just my husband supporting us both.

I just really hope we get processed quickly, with no issues, and that I can start looking for work and bringing in some extra income for us. I'm still worried I forgot something, or did something wrong, or SOMETHING.

Welcome Squidleet!

What VO will your Stage 2 be processed at? They will definitely ask for the medical. There's no way around it. But like others said, if you do it later, you may avoid having to do it twice.

It's a stressful process. The day after I sent mine in, my only 2 buddies who had married Albanians and processed through Rome got their responses. 1 was refused, the other accepted. I was panicking. What if I didn't do enough? What if I had added this or this?

But I guess you just have to have faith. This forum will drive you crazy sometimes. Looking at January Spreadsheet to see where Mississauga is at, etc.

I feel more stressed AFTER having sent the application than BEFORE when I was putting it all together.

Anyway, it seems as though you are one of the lucky ones who at least gets to be near your loved one through this process.

Mine's an ocean away! Let's hope we all get reunited soon, with a 100% success rate!

As mentioned by others, 100% need to do a medical. We are living in Calgary, and tried to book with a variety of the approved places in the city however they all seemed to have strange policies where you needed to run around the city and book 3-4 appointments for the various tests (xray, blood) and then bring it all back to the clinic to send. Really felt we were being treated like a number. In the end we booked in Red Deer and drove 1.5 hours to do it there, but was sure worth it. They booked us in same day with all the places we needed to go and were very friendly with everything. All the places we called were about a month waiting time, which was fine. One issue that we did have was the nurse didnt seem to recognize Karen's TRV sticker from China in her passport. She actually insisted that it wasn't acceptable... Of course we pushed and told her that was all we had and it was good enough for the government so surely it was acceptable. She check with the doctor and it everything was sorted out quickly. Any other Beijing applicants this month?!?

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if I could ask it here but my wife and I are planning to pass our applications as well this month and I'm wondering why most of you had their medicals done even before sending the application? Is it more advisable to send them all together including the medical results?

From what I've learned, if you send in an application missing something like the medical or background check, then your VO will have to request that from you. When they need to request things from you which prevent them from moving forward with your application, they place your file off to the side with a "bring forward date". It essentially delays your application by 4 or 8 weeks or until they decide to check if you've sent in what they requested and start working on it again.

I know a lot of people have had trouble with booking appointments too. From my experience it can be easier and cheaper to do it in Canada. My husband and stepkids had their medicals done here in Kitchener. I called on a Thursday, had an appointment for Monday; they did all the tests and xrays in the same building and we were out in 3 hours & only cost us $390 for all 3 of them. The thing that took the longest to get was the FBI background check. Otherwise I would probably be in the January 2014 applicant thread - but I wasn't taking a chance and sending the application without it. No "bring forward" dates for me! lol

I feel the same way . . . . when we took it to be shipped off I literally felt like I was giving away a child. Now I'm just worrying that I did something wrong or something is going to be incomplete - even though I checked it at least a million times to make sure everything was there. It's so stressful!

I was in the Purolator store before we sent it, going through the papers, double checking I had everything one last time. I think the people there thought I was crazy! I could see the judgement in their eyes. And I think I've calculated how much I was supposed to pay at least 4 times because I keep having an anxiety attack that I didn't pay enough. But I just so don't want nightmares of missing signatures & forms or the whole application being sent back waking me in the middle of the night covered in terror-sweat.

Like TorontoEH and others have said, the medical is 100% required. And since you decided not to do it upfront, they'll have to request it from you later and that will cause delays in processing your case. However long it takes you to get an appointment + your "bring forward date" = delay time.

My suggestion would be to try and do the medical asap and send in the forms the doctor gives you once your file is transferred so that they don't have to request it from you. This will eliminate waiting for an appointment and them putting your case off to the side. That is, if you're concerned about time and wanting to start working etc., sooner rather than later.

I think Squidleet that unfortunately your visa office will ask you for the medical test, and probably as other people said, it will delay your app some time. Hopefully it will be only a matters of time.
Good luck to all of you.

PS. Great game of men (and women) Canada hockey team, they beat USA and now they are in the final. Good luck for them to next Sunday

Does anyone know what kind of medical issues could end up being a problem with your application?

This may sound super silly to even be worried about in regards to our application :P - but I think I might have a pretty bad ulcer, and my spouse and I were thinking about getting the medicals done soon and having them sent out but now I'm concerned that having an ulcer might end up being an issue (This is the first one I've had and I'm pretty sure it's because of the stress of everything that's going on right now)

I really appreciate the answers that I got from here, but I do have another question.

If me and my wife just recently got married like a month ago, what name should I put on her application? Because on this one part, it was asking for her full name as exactly shown on her travel document which is her passport it's not yet updated with my last name and I think the expiration of her passport is not until 2015. I will appreciate some answers thank you!

We used my maiden name (As found on my passport) in filling out the application.

As I far as I know, they are looking for tuberculosis in the X-Ray, and blood issues. I don't see the ulcer a problem, but I'm not a doctor neither a CIC officer

Hopefully that's all it's for. I know it's a silly thing to get worried about but this whole application has made me a huge worry wart.

Cmon guys! There is no more applicants for this month?
There is no news?
It seems that in the cic office are stuck with some applications. Last summer they were faster, or they had less job...
I want to see this moving!

I'm from the January thread - we're getting our AOR's and SA's pretty quickly.. the link to the spreadsheet is in my signature. Typically expect to wait 29-31 days for AOR and SA soon after that.

I am praying I get mine first week of March....anxiously waiting...a week and a half to go.

I think they're just looking that you don't have any serious illnesses that would cause too much of a demand on our healthcare system. might be too if you're really sick you're just trying to come here for the healthcare. either way, an ulcer isn't going to be a problem. chill out and maybe it'll get better before you get here lol.
