Hey Challenger485 ur visa office is New Delhi rite, why don't you also join the "Thread for applicants of NEW DELHI 2010", it will keep "you" and "us" updated on the process. goodluck :) !!

OK, dorisiana, finally got our app off, expected delivery tomorrow, so you can mark us down as submitted Feb 15. ;D

ETA: App received at CPC-M this morning at 9:15a.m.

Hi All,
I just sent our package off. I am American, my wife a Canadian Citizen and Permanent Resident of US, married 8 years with 2 dual citizen sons. Hopefully this will be a smooth process, we didn't send near the amount of stuff that some have, less than an inch total.

I sent my package last week (Arrived on Thursday morning, February 10th). I'm Canadian, my wife is from the Philippines (Visa Office is Manila). The waiting game starts ???

And I am already tired and sick of waitin......... ::)

I agree with much of what you have said, although I do think there are plenty of poor people in the US and Canada and the UK that have in the past been involved with a MoC agreed it would be in the minority.

I also agree I'm not bitter about it, if for some insane reason my wife did not get her PR, so be it. We would likely move out of Bangkok and stay here. Canada would lose two very good taxpayers and business owners, their loss not ours.

For the record IMHO you are already worthy of living in his country.

As stated I was not trying to stir anything up I just got a really odd vibe in reading a number of posts on this forum and wondered if others noticed it too.

I'll shut up now haha

I don't think posters say those kinds of statements because they themselves believe it to be true (at least I hope not). It's just the general feeling WE (I use that term generally, as I never made such a comment before) get from how the process works. There are no stats, or official literature or anything of the kind that states the CIC will favour an American / Canadian couple over a Thai / Canadian or Thai / Thai (w/ PR) couple. But at the end of the day, humans are processing this and they have to use their "judgement" and based on how our world works, bias will play some factor.

Having said that, it should not matter where someone is from, an American / Canadian couple should put just as much effort proving their relationship as do any of the other couples. The nice thing about Canada, it is so diverse, I can see a IO who may have come to Canada from Thailand (or anywhere else in the world) and get an American/Canadian package that is half assed and lacking of any detail and deny them for it. We're dealing with humans, best we can do is give the best damned package possible. I was quite proud of my package (that sounds kind of dirty, my apologies) when it was all said and done.

Anyway, good debate. I think everyone's made great points.

CPC Mississauga Lost my Initial Application

Ugh! That would suck. How long did it take to figure out they lost it?

Sending app tomorrow!!!!!! Can't wait to be with my husband. Good luck February applicants. I'm praying for all of us.

Hi All, Wishing all a speedy response. We filed on Feb 7 for outland but we live inland. Canada post screwed up and failed to deliver the "next am" and so our priority post might be free - best news in a long time. Still waiting for a work permit that has taken over 6 months - when it should have only taken 3 weeks

Hey guys CPC-M are working on the file received on January 20, 2011 for sponsorship......so I guess we all have to wait for another 1-2weeks to hear the good news for the first stage :D

goodevening guys! (or goodmorning. :D )
if you want to add your details like VO please feel free to edit. thanks! and by the way, ours will be sent on monday to mississagua, my husband is in alberta so we are hoping that the papers will reach mississagua a day after. ;) goodluck to us!

I think you are right for the most part, I think the vast majority of the people that make such comments say them without really meaning to have them come across as they do. But there is a minority for sure that make the comments with the intent to imply somehow they are superior due to their being a US/CAN couple. Not picking on anyone in particular as that is not the point of the discussion. But I have seen some very insulting well we just got married three months ago after knowing each for two months but hey we are a CAN/US couple.. as if somehow that makes them above the judgment standard than rest of us have to meet.

You are also quite right that as long as humans are involved in the process there will always be a bias to some degree. I can't tell you how many times people make that face when it's mentioned that my wife is from Thailand.. I have heard the Thai Hooker jokes blah blah blah... small minded people that likely have never been to Thailand but such is life it's the system we have to work within.

Having said that, it should not matter where someone is from, an American / Canadian couple should put just as much effort proving their relationship as do any of the other couples. Agreed with the above 100% I went out of my way to explain any detail that I felt might have gave them cause to question us. Of course I am sure I missed something as really I have no idea how they view things and what will raise the red flags for them.

Anyway, good debate. I think everyone's made great points.

It's always nice to have a good back and forth on subjects like this, the worst thing that can be done to any process where a human bias can affect the outcome is allow to happen in the dark and away from public scrutiny.

Ok time for bed, very late here.
