I have a question regarding the filling of the form...

( Family Sponsorship Form IMM0008 Question # 3 in Application Details )

Having said this, I am a citizen since 2007, married in 2011, I have a son, (my son has a passport, and has a proof of citizenship certificate),

so now my question is that,

How many Family Members, Including you, are in this application(see instructions guide)?

how many should I write 1 or 2, as my son is not a dependent in CIC definition, because he s a citizen of Canada. so again what should I

write, in my opinion it should be 1, but as one of my friend who is also in this situation said it should be 2.. an advice is highly appreciated..

In IMM0008 you don't need to include your child who is a Canadian by birth.

In the additional form IMM5406 for Family members, you need to add the details of your son.

Indicate the total number of family members included in your application. This includes yourself and any family members, regardless of whether they intend to accompany you to Canada or not.

Your Canadian citizen child is NOT included in this portion of it. He will be listed in the 'additional family' forms though. For this number you should be using 2. You MUST include yourself, as per the instructions. The second person is your wife. Any children that are NOT already Canadian citizens or cannot become canadian citizens (I.e. from a previous marriage or other) should also be included in this number.

how come Sponsor to be included in that question, I am a Sponsor applicant, am a citizen, not a dependent.. so its kind strange to me.. I believe the above said form is for the person who is to be sponsored(Applicant) for PR and any other Family Member(but not the family member who is a PR, like my son and myself) who are not PR yet, so in that condition I believe it must be "1" and only one, as we are 3 members (me, my wife, and our son).

For this number you should be using 2. You MUST include yourself, as per the instructions. The second person is your wife.

The answer to IMM0008 question 3 is only "1", your sponsored spouse. You and your Canadian child are not included.

Also, stop referring to yourself as a Principal Applicant. You are the Sponsor. Your wife is the Principal Applicant. These are NOT interchangeable terms.

Thanks.. that's what I believe "1"

because The Clause or Pragraph "You MUST include yourself, as per the instructions" is for the Applicant not for the Sponsor... that "You.." is for the Applicant (spouse whom i am sponsoring) the one(1) and no others(myself and my son) are included..

Yes, I realized this earlier today when I was reading something else. I guess I was thinking about the sponsorship part of the application where there was a box that needed both the sponsor and the spouse so the answer was 2. I couldn't find this thread again to correct it, so thank you for catching it.

Yes, its form IMM5481 (04-2012) E ; This form's section 4,5,6, and 7 might be in your thoughts.. Section # 7 says Total number of persons not included 4, 5, 6 ... Here I have to put myself, spouse and any child whether dependent or Citizen have to be included in it.
