There was talk of no more inland/outland. So, if they are driving processing times sub-12 months, it now calls into question the continuance of the OWP for inlanders. Who would need it?

yes, and he mentioned that everything will be live online as of Dec 15 (meaning the new packets and paperwork I'm assuming). The processing timeline and other criteria for processing is being followed as of today.

Okay i had a chance to listen on on the message from IRCC minister...

here's a few notes Starting March 2017

-there will be only one application for inland and outland applications
- instead of numerous checklist, there will be one unified checklist.
- they are working to reducing processing time from average 24 months to 12 months,
if you have already applied prior to this date process will take 4 months.
- PR 2 year conditions will be removed
- Age of dependency will increase to 22 form 18
- Standards of medical, security and criminality back ground will stay the same
-they have received 25 million in funding to hire more agents to help with processing times.

It was really muffled but i hope i got the important notes.

not sure where you're getting the march 2017 date from? when you fast forward a bit in the announcement, the sound becomes clearer when the minister himself talks. he specifically said this process starts "as of today" and everything will go live online December 15.

I also did not hear anything about processing being 4 months if you already applied before a certain date. he said they will be processed first in, first out, so those waiting longer will possibly get processed first.

I think you captured it all - at least from what I heard! 12 months processing for 80% of spousal applicants regardless whether inland or Outland, and apparently effective from today. How that affects applicants already in process wasn't very clear as many have been waiting more than a year and how that plays into overseas VO office timelines is a question no one asked! As of today all VO's have very disparate and different processing times with some having higher volumes and some less!

Now I am confused :'( I am all set to send the package to my husband this weekend so he can then send it out as soon as he receives the same. Although it said that they will still continue to accept the current forms until end of January 2017, I am having second thought now if we would just wait until Dec 15 when the new kit is available. Too, I and my kids are done with upfront medical.

Anything in process will come out much faster from the queue. It's first in - first out. Meaning whoever applied first will come out first. So watch applications around your time line.

I'd send it, so you don't have to wait :).

'Four month' promise was nowhere in there.

$25m was money they already received in the last budget, and contributed to getting where they are today, wasn't a new announcement.

Other than that, you had the key points.

what do you mean "- PR 2 year conditions will be removed"? No need to live in canada for 2 years out of 5 years in order to keep PR status?
