But i didn't even got correspondence letter yet and that visa officer told me during interview that background check will be done within 4 weeks. lets hope she was right about the timeline.

Even the interviewer doesn't guarantee it ...... It's going to be at random at this point

I applied for study permit on 28th may and medical passed on 13th july but application still shows "background check under process"
what is maximum time for this step? is there anyone going through the same step?

I applied on 30th May. Medical passed on 11th July. Correspondence letter on 22nd july.

Nothing since then--in the same boat as you. Processing times have also increased to 10 weeks for Pakistani students so I don't know how long it will take

So I got an email from the following email address: ABDBI-imautoreply@international.gc.ca today and on my GC Key account, my application still says: reviewing eligibility and I received my biometrics correspondence letter on July 28, and nothing after that. It says in the email: You must include a copy of this letter with your submission, but it does not have any attachment, so I just posted in another thread to get some opinions of other people The email says the following:

This is passport request. It means your application is approved and now they need your passport to stick the counterfoil on it. Once your passport is with them and they print and stick the visa on it then they will close your application as approved and then you will see the status as approved on your mycic account.
For now, if there is no attachment with the email they sent, just don't worry. Take a print from the email (make sure email address is visiable from which you received it) and enclose it with your passport and take it to VAC where they will forward it to the visa office.

I am honestly not sure, but you can try.

Just explain to them that you have less time and you would want to do your medical asap. If not, just try to get the next available date. Tomorrow is Friday so their times will be short today, I would recommend that you go there first thing in the morning.
