@TanakaM Hi...my girlfriend (soon to be my wife) is a private tutor and she runs her own coaching institute for undergraduates and post graduates students. Closest NOC for her is 4012.
  • tutor – post-secondary teaching assistant
She is running that institute for the last 5 years. Can I show her tutor work experience or CIC only accepts that experience if one is working in college or university ? If i can show her experience then my CRS score would jump to 470.
Is her experience Canadian? If not you will not get any points for it. Thus there is no point in entering her work experience at all.

My wife is not coming with me to Canada.
Should I indicate that I have no family members on the EE questionnaire (Family section, question #1)?
No, this will be misrepresentation and, if you succeed, you will not be able to sponsor her at a later stage .

Whether it is ok or not depends on your score under the six selection factors (assuming you are a FSW applicant). That is, whether it would impact your eligibility if you claim less than 6 years in your primary NOC.

It's all on the CIC site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp

But...

(Please note that this info does not apply to the Federal Skilled Trades Program)

1) Determine your eligibility by doing this CIC quiz http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/ee-start.asp

2) Get your language test(s) done. You must get at least CLB 7 in each of the four sections for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC) streams. But getting CLB 10 gives you maximum points for language.

How does CLB match back to the language tests? That info is here --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/language/charts.asp

3) Get your qualifications assessed by doing an Education Credential Assessment. Details here --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp

4) Determine the code that best applies to you on the National Occupation Classification (NOC) list http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp

The occupation must be NOC 0, A, or B for FSW or CEC.

5) When you have those in hand you create your express entry profile. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/profile.asp and register for the Job Bank http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/home-eng.do?lang=eng

You'll be given points based on your age, education, number of years work experience, and language skills. The points system is detailed here --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

You'll be in a pool with thousands of other applicants http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/pool.asp

Of course, the more points you have the better. The max is 1200, with 600 of those points coming from your ability to snag a PNP or a job offer with a very hard to get Labour Market Impact Assessment http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp

For CEC applicants, the max is 600 but someone who has no work experience in Canada who is only eligible for FSW can only get up to 520 points.

6) Finally, wait for your invitation to apply (ITA). But in the interim you will need to do the following:

a) Have your application fee (C$550 each for principal applicant and spouse) and right of permanent resident fee (C$490 each for principal applicant and spouse) ready
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp

b) Identify how you will provide proof of funds http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

c) check out what is required for the police certificates http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/security/police-cert/index.asp

d) find out how long it takes to get a date for the medical exam. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp

e) contact previous and current employers about them providing job letters. You must have at least 12 months of full-time, or an equal amount in part-time, skilled work experience. Full-time work means at least 30 hours of paid work per week. Work experience while you were a full-time student does not count.

f) research cities in the province(s) where you want to live.

Thanks for the information.

It all depends on whether your CRS score is competitive or not, if it is you could expect an ITA within couple weeks.

Getting the AOR is dependent again on your CRS score and your ability and quickness to submit your eAPR after obtaining an ITA.

Sent with application

@TanakaM....Actually here is the situation...if I am the Primary applicant and after adding her education (Masters degree) and good IELTS score (yet to give the IELTS) i only get 436. Currently. my score is 432.
But if I show her as Primary applicant, then my score jump to 470. Because i have bachelors and she has masters. Thats why i was worried about the work experience and requirements.

Hi I am new to the website. I have some doubts about applying for FSW category for PR. Please help me or guide me to the suitable thread.
1) the funds that I need to show, how old they should be at the time of ITA ? I have funds in joint account with my wife? Would that be fine?
2) I have worked for 4 years after 2008 and am self employed (clinic) for last 4 years. What documents do I need from my companies? Any formats that I can get? For clinic workex I think ITR would suffice. Right?

Oh ok, I see what you mean.

Yes you can show it and follow the self employment instructions under proof of work experience.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp
She does not have to be employed in a University or Collage as there is no need for the candidate to meet the listed employment requirements of the requirements. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/minimum.asp

However on 432 or 436 you are in a very good spot. You will get an ITA soon.

All the best

Hi and welcome,

1) At the time of ITA there is no request for POF. However, at the time of submitting your PR application you need to show your average 6 months balance and your current balance. So if there is a major difference between the 2 you will need to show the source of your funds.
So it's best to have them in your acc for 6 months at the time of eAPR.

2) "if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience)." http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

Thanks for prompt reply. I wish to base my Application on my corporate workex. Can someone provide me a sample of what all needs to be there in the letter from employers? And
