As I have already said, they check the info regarding the USA for everyone
If you look at your GCMS notes, you will see the part of INFO SHARING, where info sharing is mentioned.
This is the about the procedure
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/laws-policy/agreements/can-usa-agreement.asp
We cannot even predict how many checks and for what countries are being done for every applicant because this info is not disclosed.
This is security part, not a waste of time.
I saw this and thanks for the response, however, you probably did not see this part and is coming from Immigration website:
Starting in 2013, the Government of Canada plans to introduce the use of biometrics, through the collection of a photograph and fingerprints, for nationals from twenty-nine countries and one territory who apply for a temporary resident visa, work permit, or study permit. Through automated and systematic biometric information sharing, both Canadian and U.S. authorities will be able to identify previously failed refugee claimants, deportees, previously refused overseas refugee resettlement applicants, and visitor visa applicants trying to enter our countries under fraudulent identities.
These are countries:
The sharing of biometric information involves visa applicants to Canada from Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Authority, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Vietnam and Yemen.
And of course, if someone has a visitor visa or has been there I am assuming the same procedure would apply.
