Hi everyone,

My original visa on passport has expired, but I am on valid F1 status working in CPT (higher degree). Hence, my i-94 is also valid. I received ITA (Invitation) recently and currently in the process of collecting documents. I have few questions:
  1. PCC
    • I see that along with original passport, we also need to send notarized copy of visa to Indian consulate. Since the original visa is expired, will this create any hassle?
  2. Can we count work during CPT as valid foreign work experience ?
  3. Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR)
    • Is AVR applicable when just traveling to Canada ? (not returning to US)
    • Can we return to US again and continue working based on previous Visa status (CPT)? Is AVR applicable only here, during return?
    • Is AVR still applicable if I have pending H1B? (extension/transfer/RFE)
  4. At any point, do we need to travel to India for PR process?

1. No, shouldn't make a difference. You can also send a notarized copy of the I-94 that proves that you're in status along with the visa.
2. Yes
3. No idea, someone else can answer
4. No, you don't have to.
