I received a letter from the immigration requesting evidence of communication between me and my spouse. Also stated in the letter that this letter refers to you application presently processed by the Canada immigration....They also stated this is my opportunity to comply with this request. Failure to do so can result in the refusal of my application. I'm getting a crazy feeling, is this normal?

It's not normal - but it's not unheard of. It likely means you didn't submit enough evidence of communication between the two of you as part of your application - or that CIC wants to see recent evidence of communication. You should definitely take this request seriously and supply CIC with plenty of recent evidence of your communications - I would provide evidence that spans several months.
