Many strong cases sit in ICAC for a long time before moving forward.Hi dear , My case was transferred to ICAC in May 2025 , until now I haven’t heard anything back from them. It’s so sad. I submit my refugee claim in 12/2023 . 25 months of waiting , it is very frustrating and I am very anxious.
When a case is transferred there (ICAC), it usually means:
*Your claim is accepted for processing
*There is no refusal or negative decision
*Your file is waiting in the scheduling queue, not stalled or lost
*Unfortunately, ICAC does not send updates unless:
*A hearing date is scheduled, or
*They need something specific from you
If you have a lawyer
Send a formal status inquiry to the IRB
Make sure nothing is blocking your file
This doesn’t always speed things up, but it can give reassurance.
If anxiety is becoming overwhelming, there is no shame in asking a doctor or counselor for support — many refugee claimants do during long waits.
