Hi dear , My case was transferred to ICAC in May 2025 , until now I haven’t heard anything back from them. It’s so sad. I submit my refugee claim in 12/2023 . 25 months of waiting , it is very frustrating and I am very anxious.
Many strong cases sit in ICAC for a long time before moving forward.
When a case is transferred there (ICAC), it usually means:

*Your claim is accepted for processing
*There is no refusal or negative decision
*Your file is waiting in the scheduling queue, not stalled or lost
*Unfortunately, ICAC does not send updates unless:
*A hearing date is scheduled, or
*They need something specific from you

If you have a lawyer

Send a formal status inquiry to the IRB
Make sure nothing is blocking your file
This doesn’t always speed things up, but it can give reassurance.
If anxiety is becoming overwhelming, there is no shame in asking a doctor or counselor for support — many refugee claimants do during long waits.

I’m sorry that you still waiting, I pray for you. I’m also waiting but I filed mine in mid 2025, I still have a long way to go but I hope you get a hearing scheduled soon. Please keep us posted

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know how long it usually takes after completing the front-end security check for the RPD to either schedule a hearing or make a decision on a refugee claim?

There’s NO fixed timeline after the front-end (eligibility/security) stage, it can vary a lot. But in practice, most people wait many months to a few years, not weeks.

some says 2 months to 6 months. I think will take 4 to 6 months. if u look at IRCC processing times, they estimate 16 months waiting time.

Security background check is important step. if u complete it, that means ur case is ready for hearing. they cant schedule until they check ur background whther u have criminal history or not

There are two situations we are discussing here. The IRB hearing does not have a fixed timeline, whereas the IRCC processing time for a protected person PR application is approximately 16 months.
