I am engaged to be married in May of this year. Corrently my partner lives overseas and I am living in Canada. We have never lived together, and are therefore not eligible to apply as common law partners. Can I begin my application as a sponsor even though we are not married?
I am asking because I am somewhat concerned that my hubby will have problems getting back into Canada (the wedding will be overseas, and we plan to return to Canada, he will have a visitor's visa) and I have heard that it's a good idea to have a copy of your spousal application to show at customs.
Any other advice? How likely or unlikely is it to be turned around?
