Email from CIC that PR card renewal needs secondary review

- I applied for PR Renewal in early Nov. Got AOR - Dec 1st.
- Application has been in process since. No secondary renewal notification yet

Mid-December:
I called and they said the application has been approved and sent for production.

Today:
I called them and the said the application has been Approved but is in Verification.

Questions:
1) Am I out of the dreaded secondary review zone?
2) How can you be Approved and still be in Verification? What does that even mean?

I think it is a little early to say if your application is in secondary review.
I got an email that my file went to secondary review the same time they requested for additional documents, three months after they recieved my application.

I would like to share my experience to give hope to those who are still waiting for their PR cards to be renewed.
This week I received an e-mail from CIC to let me know that my PR card has been approved and to come to pick it up in person.
My time line:

March 2016 - application received
April 2016 - process started
June 2016 - additional documents requested and sent to secondary review
January 2017 - a letter from CIC to pick up my renewed PR card.

Didn't request urgent processing, didn't contact CIC, didn't call CIC. Just waiting patiently.
I wish you all good luck and I strongly believe that your PR cards will be approved soon.

Hi guys, got a letter from IRCC that my PR has been approved and the request has been sent to the Sydney office to issue it. Timeline till date:

Applied 30 June 2016 - urgent
Application recieved - 1st July 2016
Secondary review - 12th July 2016 (local office hamilton)
Letter of approval issued - 18th January 2016

Now awaiting the card

My first two timeline are same as yours except they are from june 2015 and july 1 2015 lol

Is anyone here having their case referred to a Montreal office or somewhere else in Quebec? I see that most people are from Ontario or rest of Canada and wanted to check if the timelines differ for Quebec.

I'm from Montreal. Probably my process is being treated there. I'm also curious if the timelines differ for different provinces.

I am under the impression that some offices have less work than others and as such their employees are more proactive in reviewing SR cases (I might be wrong - and hope I am)

So obviously you are in Montreal and have not received any news yet, I am too but my SR is Sep 2016, wondering of anyone else from Montreal with SR referral prior to May 2016 have received their cards

Not really. I'm waiting since May 26th, 2016, since secondary review referral. Nothing, absolutely nothing up to now. The whole process of a friend of mine (also from Montreal) took 30 months after secondary review referral.
