EI - Contract Job - Paternal leave

  1. Hi All,
    Please do help. I am not sure if this forum is correct for my confusion. Please do share / ask your friends to help me out. I would appreciate it.

    I am unemployed since 3 months for 2019. I do have an upcoming contract job opportunity for 6-7months from regional hospital and private clinic ending in 2020.

    My wife is full time employed since 6 months. We are expecting baby in 5 months. We are planning for extended parental benefit. I am preferring to take paternal leave after 9 months.

    I am not able to decide which job opportunity should I prefer. Please do help me with following confusions.
    1. Which job to opt for hospital or private , as I have to apply for EI - paternal ( dad) leave.
    2.Will I get Paternal ( dad) leave - EI benefit , when I apply after the contract job ( 6-7 month) is done or I have to apply while being on job.
    3. . What would be the role of my employer for my paternal ( dad) leave as I would have worked 6-7 months .

    Please do help.
