Dear Qorax,

Thanks a lot for quick reply.

Just few more questions,

In a previous note you mentioned that you have got Al Fardan drafts cashed into your account in Canada withing 48 hours, if you dont mind, is that done with Scotia bank or another bank, could you please name the bank , if it is ok?

Also any idea how to bring funds from India in the form of a draft?

Hi,

1) Only Al Fardan in DXB issuing drafts in CAD..?
Yes, only Al Fardan Exch. for the common man.
[Also some banks like HSBC, RAK bank & RBS if u have an a/c with them]

2) I asked Wall Street Exchange yesterday, they told me to go to Western Union.. Western Union & UAE Exchange issue CAD drafts?
No, UAE Exch doesn't provide that service.
W/Union is for Wire Transfers [with the highest charges!].

3) How difficult is getting a draft from a bank like HSBC, could you please advice another bank's name if they issue CAD draft, is it difficult to start account in such a bank or in HSBC, howlong will it take..
Not difficult if u have an existing a/c with them.
HSBC however, should be avoided, 'coz of their exorbitant fees!

4) How can I open a bank A/c after landing in Canada, is it possible the next day of landing with just SIN?
Very simple... u can open one the same day as u get the SIN ["No." only, don't require the 'card'].
Every bank here has a 'newcomer' friendly product. They understand the requirement. Scotiabank has a 'Startright' program - especially for us. TD Bank is also pretty good.

5) will any one (some body like an immigration officer) give me my SIN number at the immigration during first entry?
No. U apply for the SIN @ a Service Canada office. U could visit the nearest one to your temp. residence here.
Ask anyone in your neighborhood - and they'd tell u where is the nearest one. Or surf their website.

Al-Fardan has arrangement with BMO, so the drafts r made 'payable' thru BMO. U can deposit it in any bank here. If u open an a/c with BMO - it's credited on-the-spot, or max within 24 hrs. With any other bank it could take 48-72 hrs. to a max of 1 week. I get it in 24 hrs. with TD.

Hi biju/qorax

hoping to have your views with the below statement (i had seen it in other site === a month back comment by TIM HEALY)

i would like to know if applicant like me will unlikely get any MR this year..

London FSW Processing
For those who have been wondering about when their files in London will be processed, based upon what London has advised me:

1) files lodged pre-27 February 2007 will not be processed this year unless
medical forms have already been received;

2) a few files lodged 27 February 2007 to 26 June 2010 may be reviewed this
year if all subsequently lodged files have been finalized and

3) files lodged post-26 June 2010 are the first priority (at least until June 30th).

In other words, Ottawa has ordered London (and all visa-posts, according to London) to process current files first; i.e., post June 26th; and the earliest files, last. As a consequence, London anticipates its entire quota being filed merely by finalizing those files for which medical forms have been provided and those lodged between 26 June 2010 and 30 June 2011.

Because Islamabad files have been dumped onto London without its quota being increased, anyone who applied to London or Islamabad pre-27 February 2007 should not expect to have their files processed this year; or, if the approach CIC is currently taking, next year either -- if ever -- assuming the post-June 30th intake equals this fiscal year's intake. Even with additional staff, absent an increase in its quota, CIC will bar London from processing anything but the most recent applications.

As this approach has been dictated to all visa posts, anyone who applied to ANY visa post before 27 February 2007 and has not yet received medical forms should not expect their application ever to see the light of day -- unless their visa post either receives fewer new applications or an increased quota. Likewise, those who applied between 27 February 2007 and 26 June 2010 are unlikely to have their files processed unless they have already received medical forms before the end of this year. And, once the new Occupation List is out, this same fate will befall those who applied between June 26th and this coming June 30th unless they

Ps.: Your previous post's connotations seem quite logical.

Dear Qorax,

Besides the Child Tax Benefits - what are the other benefits that our kids will get from the govt of Onatrio?
Can you please give us an idea about all these things?

Thank you

Dear Seniors,

My Medical is going to expire within next 7 weeks i.e. by 3rd Sept, and still no news from London office (early May they asked for updated PCC).

Any advise? if i should bother them in their sweet dreams.

We did the medicals with Health Bay Clinic. They were also very nice and easy.

Hi,

We are on the same boat. I did my medicals on 22 Sept. 2010. They also requested updated PCC on earyly may and provided them within one week time.

I did send them many enquiries, without any response from their side.

I think we are going to repeat the medicals. This is fact, as if they request the passports now, you will only get them after 6 weeks.

Wish you best of luck.
