Hi everyone

I am based in Dubai and did my landing in October last year and now by the end of October this year I will be travelling to Canada to settle down permanently. I just have a few queries:

1. I can travel with my PR card only right ? I don't need any other documents ? I will be travelling via emirates through a direct flight to Toronto.

2. Before I go I want to ship some of my stuff to Canada . What is the best way to send things , I have heard Cargo? If you know any cargo companies , that would be great.

3. I recently sent around 20,000 dollars to my account in Canada, do you think that is taxable? I have very little idea about taxes in Canada, if someone can post a link about it , that would be nice.

I appreciate any response to my queries.

Thanks

Yes you just need a valid pp and your PR card but there are a lot of other docs that you need incase you are going with your family which wil make life easy i.e. birth certificates, kids immunization records, driving experience letter etc
Shipping ur stuff is the best and cheapest option we had done ours thrugh Export leaders shipping - takes about 50-60 days
No the money will not be taxed

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me the steps for attesting and translating a Nikah nama given by Dubai courts?
Do I first translate it from arabic to english and then get Ministry of Justice and then MOFA to attest?
or do I attest the original arabic and then translate it and re-attest it or something?

thanks

Dear Seniors,

Could you please advice me regarding , how many days it will take to stamp the visa once passport reaches the LVO.

Thanks & Regards

depends upon your luck, but it must not be more than 2 months, after one month you can send LVO CSI regarding stamping of Pasport. NEKEOL

Hi forum members,

we got our passports back last week stamped with PR visa that will expire on May 2, 2014. We are planning to land by middle of April next year since our kids are still at school here in dubai. My question, is it ok to land even it is more than a year after our medical exam? which was done last April 3, 2013?.. Thanks for any info

CONGRADULATIONS.
YES YOGI77, NO PROBLEM AT ALL UNTIL YOUR VISA EXPIRED. YOU HAVE TO LAND BEFORE THE EXPIRY OF YOUR VISA.
YOUR TIME SELECTION IS ALSO GOOD MID OF APRIL 2014, WEATHER WILL BE FINE AT THAT TIME AND TICKET PRICES ARE ALSO CHEAPER AS COMPARE TO JUNE JULY AND JAN DEC. nekeol

Hi Bigboss,

Yogi77's medicals have not expired yet. He said got them done in April 2013, so they will expire in April 2014.

For your case you will either get an extension in your medicals, for which visa office will inform you, or you will have to do the medicals again.

Hi,

the visa validity is supposed to be a date one year after the medicals (provided all applicants have valid PPs till then), however I am seeing on this forum, that a lot of people are getting visa expiry of about 1 month more than their first anniversary of medicals.

It seems that year validity of medicals, is not counted from the day of the actual medicals. Perhaps it is the date they accepted the medicals or the day results were finalized?

Seniors any comments?

Hi Yoggi77,

Do you know what date 'we received your medicals' was updated in your ecas?

Regards,

thanks a lot rizmayo... there is no date written on ecas as to when they received the medical report. We just did our medical last April 3, 2013 at Dubai-London Hospital and they send it through net to the concerned department in CIC. The next email i received from them is last July 17 re: their instruction to submit the passport.. Although it is clear in the COPR that i must land before May 2, 2014, I was just in doubt why they put this date which is a month more than a year of our medical. And im just worried of going to medical again due to moper than 1 year medical result (hope it will not happen). One thing more why i'd like to travel by end of April next year is that, i will be exactly 5 years in my present company by end of March 2014, and i want to take the opportunity of higher computation of gratuity when i resign. Plus, at least few more weeks allowance for some obligations to settle here in dubai.
