I'm a foreign student currently living in the U.S. I've an 18 month student permit to do my Master's in Canada, and I'm planning to drive my personal car (which I own in the U.S) across the Detroit border. Can someone tell me what documents do I need exactly to successfully drive my car across the border. I read the Canadian border regulations and as far as I understood I don't need to import/export my car because my visa is less than 36 months. Can someone confirm this please? Also, do I need to inform US customs that I'm going to export my car to Canada? (since its a temp move). Also, I recently transferred my car title and state of Illinois takes 2-4 weeks to mail in the new title to me, however I have registration documents and insurance. Can I drive without the car title in my hand?
Thank you
