so sorry to hear about your sister-in-laws situation..looks like she needs immediate help..

Below source was found in cic site

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/welcome/wel-05e.asp#domestic

I am little worried right now as the last words i heard was when she told my husband (her brother) that she cannot bear the pain from the beating and wants some money to go back to india to her parents ..
I am really so sorry to hear about her story. Let him be man enough to face challenges of life and nt to transfer aggression to someone else.
Like someone already said , it is no point going to India. she have to be courageous to help herself. You people should try to her help out by passing on all these information to her. I think she will be fine.

hello everyone,

Many Thanks for the suggestions .. well as i expected when i talked to ger this morning she said everything is fine .. and she is happy ..

but later she chatted with her sister and told her that she's not allowed to talk to anyone alone and her in-laws sit right at her head when she talks and also on the speaker phone ...

well in the chat she has specified some very horrifying things and also said that she cannot call domestic voilence and 911 as she does not have access to any phone ... right now she is beaning for me to come to Canada and take her away as she will not be able to do this alone ..

so plz guys tell .. me if i can go to Canada by road from US ... without my PR cards (using COPR doc again. I did my lading already) and also how can i change the address for my PR cards ... i am looking to book my tickets for buffalo asap so that i can drive to Toronto from their.

Hello Simon,

I wish I was in Canada now, and could offer to help her, she is a legal resident need safe place to stay. Had I been there, I could convince my husband and offer her to stay with us or atleast help in finding job and place to stay.

I am sure there might be such people in the forum, seeing this post and in Canada. If your sis-in-law is educated and can find some work with someone's help I think someone if possible can come forward to help her by offering her place to live for free for few months till she find herself a job.

Or atleast can go back to India till you get PR and then she can come back to Canada and live with you guys. She has a PR and she can come in and go out anytime and she can complete her 3 yrs stay after you guys arrive there.

I just coined my idea, if this suits Simon's family and there are other in forums residing in canada I think can offer to help. Once someone is ready to help by providing her place to live, then the person offering to help along with her should file complaint against her in-laws and husband so that they dont do any harm to helping family and her.

I hope something can work out for her.

Perhaps you can ask this question in another thread. I think this is one of the most important pieces in your puzzle to get answered at the moment. There was another fellow BRSK who was offering assistance to people in Toronto. I wonder if that is where your sister is and if he could suggest some local resources. I can understand that your sister cannot make outbound calls without being observed, but you don't have to wait to make the call on her behalf. Explain to the authorities that she is not able to speak freely on the phone if they try to make phone contact with her. Even if your sister has no money, she will be provided with shelter and emergency services.

This link will give you the information you require to get travel documents (if they are required to drive from US to Canada). I hope this helps.

If is confined to the apartment and not allowed to leave or talk to anybody, or even calling 911 then you call that hot-line number on her behalf and explain the situation. They would know better what to do. Even if you go there yourself may not be very helpful as you may be engaged in a fight with her in-laws and it would just worsen the whole situation (because someone may get hurt).
I think the best way to call the specialist - hot-line.

I am really shocked to learn whats been happening to your sister Simon. Its really hard to believe how could someone in 2011 and as a PR of Canada could even think of doing DV with wife.....It seems Women like Ancient time still couldn't be able to get rid of all the sufferings and treat they used to receive from men!! I am not an expert or not being able to land in Canada yet (otherwise me and my wife would have similar intention like Waiting4PR expressed) to support the victim but really feel proud of being a member of this forum which does have lot of great hearts like Mperei, Pippin, Sir Qorax and lot more who can come forward even for any social support and need beyond direct IMM issues.... Thats why we are like families here... World becomes so small when we could extend our hands across the boundaries...........
Have faith on GOD and you will be able to save her from these bad days... Our prayers are with you.....

You may not be following Forum right now, but there was a question/answer from Qorax that might be of use to you:

I would very much appreciate if anybody who after having finished landing formalities visited the US and could be back to Canada by Road. I have seen Qorax posts saying that it is possible though he recommends staying put in Canada until we get the PR card.
All responses are most welcome...
cprak0

For entering Canada, by road - in a personal veh, we don't require our PR cards. Our COPR suffices as an 'entry permit'.

Tell ur sister to look out for a safer place , next file police complain, and lastly see a lawyer to file for divorce since very few people will accept back the girl after this turmoil (vice versa)

I don't think the point is whether or not a woman would be accepted back after this turmoil. It is hoped that she would never go back to that abusive situation ever again.

I fully agree with u Pippin. No brother can see his sibling being treated in a bad way. If I were in Simon place i would have fixed that rogue in such a way he would have cursed himself for coming in this world.

In such situation/s it's wise to think with your head, rather than your heart[!] U wouldn't want to zepardize yourself, whould u? And then no one would be left to help her anyway!

Qorax

Ps.: Simon [& u] would be wise to reRead my previous post@page-1.
