For document not in English or French, e.g. birth certificate and marriage certificate, we need a translation with an affidavit. But is a certified copy also required? Thanks

you need to send the Original translation (with affidavit) AND certified true copy of the original document, as the translator can use a simple (no certified) copy of your document.

Exactly. As my translator worked with a scan I sent via email. You only need an affidavit if it's no
certified translator tho.

I dont know what yall think but this is what has to be done:
No copy needs to be certified unless it is a translated version of the original.
In other words, if all your originals are in English and you provide a photocopy of them to CIC (if requested) then it will be good enough for them. No Attestation/notary stamps etc are required in this case.

dear all,

I found this topic so helpful.

However, i have the following queries :

1- As carleon noted, copy of document that is originally in english do not need to be notarized. Kindly, please advise is this your understanding or you have or no someone who successfuly applied on the same basis. As you are aware, not all our interpretations deems correct when dealing with cIC.

I have my documents returned as incomplete but yet not received.

2- Is canadian consulate notarization will be acceptable to CIC. Or i should go to public notary instead. In my country where i reside, It is almost impossible to find a public notary

thank you all for kind support.

Correct. Documents in English don't have to be notarized, a simple copy is enough.

I have my documents returned as incomplete but yet not received.
