Hi Guys

If anyone re-applied for RTD after PR recently , can you please share your timeline. I am preparing for the application now. I don’t have any guarantor so I requested for the statutory declaration form from IRCC. Last time I used the same but they took almost 8 months to process my RTD.

I would recommend not to use statutory declaration in lieu of a guarantor pathway since it would take many months for them to issue you an RTD. The RTD application form, page 6, section H - DECLARATION OF GUARANTOR - it clearly mentions, "This may delay the processing time of the Canadian travel document."

Honestly I think every person has its own experience. I requested two times and always use the statuory declaration instead of guarantor. For me took 2 months each time. So if you ask me, I prefer do not bothering other person, sometimes people dont like to be guarantor :/

I applied to renew my RTD and here's the timeline for anyone's reference. This is my second RTD. I have PR now, so I got the 5 year RTD this time. Earlier I didn't have PR, so I got the 2 year RTD.

Gave complete documents to the courier at Canada Post Office on June 4th 2026
Documents accepted by Sydney NS office on June 9 2026
Received notification email from IRCC (Travel Document has been approved and will be mailed to you shortly) on June 29 2026
Received RTD in Toronto today after signature (June 30 2026).

I used the tracking number on the envelope to see when and how it got sent out so soon. I saw the document was processed in Ottawa Canada Post on June 29th 6.55 pm and then came to Toronto overnight. So as long as all the required documents are sent to Sydney NS office, the Ottawa/Gatineu office will prepare the RTD and send it to you.

Hi I am also now PR but I hadn’t received my PR card yet so I submitted my notice of decision on proof of status do you think they’ll be able to see in the system that I’m PR and give me the 5 year one?

Hello guys! Hope you are doing well. My first rtd expires on June 15th 2025. I want renew it but I haven’t received my PR yet(hoping to get by new year in worst scenario since it has been 28 months) I was wondering that if I can get RTD (it is gonna be my second RTD) for 5 years or is it gonna be for 2 years again (Since I don’t have PR) ? Thanks in advance!
