forget about a car factory... the situation is worse than this!! much worse!!
let me tell you the story of Steel co. (of Hamilton city)... one day, their competitor in US decided it is going to be easier if they kill their rival in Canada and eat up the whole market... but based on the law and union rights they couldn't... so they lobbied the government of Canada and Ontario.. the government gave a go ahead to the sell out with the promiss that the us rival will not close the factory untile the next 10 years and will pay all sorts of fees in the case of closer and so on... and despite the protest from the unions the deal was done... less than 1 year after the deal, the factories were closed down, the company was chocked up by the debt that was forced upon it by the us rival (so they couldn't pay the whole pension) and tens of thousands of workers were laid off... flash forward two years later, the Hamilton city is reeking with drug addicts, homeless people and so on... the east of Barton St. is like some war torn eastern European country... and no one from the government took upon the promises that they gave to support the industry :-[
