Hi folks,

I have applied for PR under Express Entry and my Estimated completion date is July 29. My current open work permit expires on July 30. Do I need to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit?

Thanks.

You should expect that the processing of your application will be delayed due to COVID-19 and will not be completed by July 29. Yes, you should apply for a BOWP.

Even in normal circumstances, the odds of your PR application taking longer than the Estimated Completion date are pretty high. However, I would not apply just yet. You might actually get your PR before then, just make sure to apply before your permit expires, because as soon as you apply you'll gain implied status which allows you to continue to work until a decision is made to your PR application or your BOWP is approved.

That's a great idea actually, thank you very much.
