If you still want to attend your oath, you can ask the agent who will register you to expedite your certificate. I heard some people picked it up in person immediately after the oath pre-Omicron, and some received it 2-3 days after the oath by mail. But they may ask for a proof. The other option is to leave after the oath, and have someone mail it to you at your home country, and apply for the passport abroad. Keep in mind, if you have a job in Canada and want to return, this option may complicate things for you, because issuing the passport abroad in a local embassy may take months. Of course there is the last resort option to reschedule your oath until you return to re-enter Canada without any complications using your PR card.
I agree. The reason that I mentioned US is because there is a land border between them. For countries other than the US, if you want to return to canada, you need to board the plane, and without a passport, that doesn't seem to be possible. However, if a person shows up at a POE on the land border and claims to be a citizen/PR, even if a passport is not available, it is the officers' responsibility to verify that and decide whether to admit the person. I believe this was discussed in detail by @dpenabill in some threads.

Of course, this always creates more trouble than having a passport ready.

Congrats!

I have some questions: do everyone give fingerprints? You need to go to police station or you can do yourself? Why they asked twice?
Also, why do they ask for passport? Is it a copy of it or the actual passport? Thanks

Not everyone gives fingerprints. I think the officer decides whether to give fingerprints or not. You can do it at accredited fingerprinting agencies located across Canada. For the passport pages, again, not everyone is asked to submit them. You send either scan copies or colored photocopies. They can ask either.

What a Joke!!

"We are committed to processing all complete applications within the above time. Your application may be delayed or returned if it’s not complete.
Your processing time starts the day we receive your complete application and ends when we make a decision."

Citizenship grant applications – Adults and minors
  • Our service standard: process applications within 12 months
  • Our target: meet the standard for at least 80% of applications submitted
  • Our performance in 2019‒2020: processed 65% of applications within the standard

I have not heard back from CIC after my citizenship test since July 2021. Did anyone with same timeline get their OATH invitation?

I got my GCMS notes today and found below line :-

All supporting docs on paper file : No , still need color PPT copies

but they have not asked me to provide the PPT copies yet , should I wait for request? or upload the copies through web form?

As per the status everything in progress except Citizenship test.

Prepare scanned and colored photocopies and wait for the email. They may ask either to attach scanned copies to the email, or send colored copies by mail. No one knows in advance which is it

Thanks for the reply.
Do I need to do photocopies of all passport pages?

We completed our oath on 28th February and today our application is officially closed on the new tracker and on ECAS!!! Hopefully we get our certificates within the next week or so.
Wishing and hoping that all the applications are completed soon, I can imagine how frustrating and tiring this process can be especially for 2019 applicants. Hoping the backlog can be cleared ASAP.
