Hi Guys!

Finally I can be able to check my status in CIC website today, it mentioned below...what does it mean?

Sponsorship
We received your application to sponsor (my name) on December 6, 2012.

We started processing your application on January 21, 2013.

Cheers!

Probably good news! it looks like they are looking at your application way faster than the 6 months written on the website... so now they have opened it, and hopefully you will hear from them soon!
Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks Sweden!!! 8)

I can't waaaaaaaaaaaait

Hoping other December applicants get some news before the work week is done :)

I checked ecase last night at my husbands request(he cannot access it) I haven't been really checking as I was under the impression it is not really reliable due to not being updated....that and we are just in the beginning of things...

It is totally up to date with everything so far though! It says stage one "decision made", and then clicking on the received application xx for the second stage there is now added "medicals received".

Also, before today it would not let me log in using my husbands information and the application number and that is totally working now too!

I still don't know where our file will be transferred to though... I did call and was told by the agent that the file will go to Cairo, that only special cases get sent to Ottawa...but I have been told by a few here it will go to Ottawa :o confused girl here :o

Oh and according the ecase we were approved(to sponsor) the 23rd not sure if it is a big deal but the spread sheet says the 18th.

Nothing new from the time I have recd my Sponsorship Approval. It's almost 25 days now......endless wait from my Visa Office

I mailed our outland application on Dec. 20th to CIC and checked on the US postal registration tracking page and see they received it Dec. 27th. However, I still have no response of any kind (email or snail mail) acknowledging receipt, so no idea there.

I am really hoping they do not send the whole thing back rejected, as we had no idea that a statutory declaration meant a notarized declaration, and we did not have any of our declaration letters from friends & family notarized. :(

Good to hear that it's working! :-) and the update that you see - that's about it! :-) not much else gets added, that's why people say it's not very reliable...
Normally from the approval email/letter, you should be able to know where your file is sent to - Ottawa or Cairo, as it says on the sponsorship approval. that's your best bet!

25 days is nothing for stage 2 - so sit back and relax, if you get antsy after 25 days you won't survive the whole trip! ;-)

It's normal not to have an answer for an application arrived end of December, no worries! I don't think they will send the whole thing back because of no notarized letter. They mostly send everything back when there is a form missing etc... but not for that.
Which VO are you going through? mine was London, and I also didn't understand that "statutory" meant notarized, and I was approved without troubles - so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If anything, your VO in second stage might ask you for notarized letter, but other than that, I don't think it will create troubles.
Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks for the reassurance, Sweden. I am not sure about the visa office - we are closest to Los Angeles, geographically, but in other comments I see mentions of Ottawa processing all US applications? So not sure.

Mine also changed on the 25th saying a decision has been made on the 23rd and a letter has been sent. my wife's medical also changed to received. I have no idea what the decision is though as I haven't got an email, so they must have sent it via snail mail. The waiting is killing me though, wish they would have sent an email (like all the other correspondence so far :(
