as much as we would like to believe that they are working full force in syria, they are not, in fact it has nothing to do with syria or its situation , its simple policy, they cut down on staff/hours from may to august, simply to save money,immigration canada is like that, they have people on vacation and they dont want to hire new workers to compensate for it, so yeah this can be one of many reasons why syria is so inactive lately,but we are getting near the peak season which is fall, lets all stay positive although its hard, hopefully we will all get some good news soon

actually ali jan i work for immigration canada but since i have a degree in political science they use me at DFAIT also, not often but here and there, like this egypt trip was for the foreign affair department,

Hope everyone is well. Damascus replied to my email just by saying that our file is in queue for assesment whatever that means. Im sure we wont get ppr in the next week :-( im leaving lebanon next tuesday morning w allahu a3lam when my husband will get ppr..

I remember back in 2001 , it took me 4 weeks from application to student visa, not sure now if its still the same procedure.

and btw htraboul ur prediction for me was almost right since we got ppr on june 27 and not 29 ,

I once read that it takes 47 days, and that was the period my cousin got his phd student permit.

I talked to an agent in CIC today and I was told that files are being transferred to Ottawa from Damascus. She told me that it is done electronically and won't impact the processing time. LETS HOPE EVERYTHING IS DONE SMOOTHLY AND QUICK ...

I think starting June 2011 , files are being sent to Ottawa, but i believe since the embassy still open in DAMASCUs the old files may be processed from there..
and for transfer electronically...mmmm....i dont get it..will they scan or email all the documents and photos etc..
