got a positive LMIA/CAQ (not duel intent) - applying for closed work permit. quebec.
1. how long does this process take on average?
2. I have seen people get their CWP refused with positive LMIA, how likely is this to happen? are there particular reasons for it?
3. Can i apply for a TRV on the basis of a submission of a CWP, with positive LMIA and CAQ in the application ?

1. Are you in Canada or not? If in Canada what is your status?
2. Depends on your job experience, education and language skills. You are proving that no Canadian can do the job.

3. yes. in canada
2. we had a simplified process. does that affect anything?

1. Current processing is over 200 days.
2. There is always a chance of refusal.
3. You can apply for a TRV on a PGWP.

3. pgwp expires in october so if i apply now will i get it beyond that date? i have a trv right now that expires at the same time as the pgwp. so I’m wondering about the visa to apply for if i want to travel after october and return to canada, provided I have approval for Cwp.

You'll have to wait for an approved work permit before applying for TRV.

Realistically October travel may not be possible. Unless you have your new WP you would be on implied status so if you left Canada you could not return and work.

Hello guys, I am new, and I would like to get information on how does LMIA actually work. Do I need to be already job given by LMIA holder, then apply for the PN program or to apply first, then wait for job offer? Could someone please explain to me, as I am confused, as I read some official articles by CIC and when it is about PNprogram many times it is mentioned that you have to be inside the country. I am overseas, I have no CA education, no CA work experience, and no relatives living in CA

Getting PR without an education and work experience is almost impossible these days. You really need to do more research on the various pathways to secure PR or hire an immigration lawyer. A job offer with approved LMIA will no longer help you secure PR due to recent changes.

high level about LMIA:
An employer post a job position and couldn't find a Canadian/PR that can do that job. And only you have the education and experience to fill that position.
So yes, most cases, employers are only willing to file for LMIA (it cost them $1000 to apply plus fee to lawyer if they hire a lawyer to handle this).
Once that LMIA is approved, you (or the person that can fill that position) can apply for a closed work permit for that employer. You need to again proof that your education and experience fits that position.

So then, you will be ONLY working for that employer if the closed work permit is approved.

As pointed out by another member, LMIA and a closed work permit alone will not help in terms of applying for PR.

Hi everyone

I have high wage new lmia from the same employer that I’m working from last 3 years on lmia based work permit . Currently i have experience as warehouse supervisor but the new lmia is under my name is for printing press supervisor. Employer ask for 1 to less then 7 month of experience required for new lmia application. Currently I’m performing 70% same duties. My question is there any red flag by switching the job (new lmia based work permit application) into different position? I check by myself I’m performing all supervisory duties but lag in technical duties that’s why I said 70% match. My consultant told me there will be no issue in this coz employer only ask for 1 to less then 7 month experience required which is considered as on-job training. In letter of explanation they did not mentioned about on job training thing
