Went IP this morning! Well, according to eCAS, they started July 15.

Any idea why it seems to take them so long to update eCAS to IP? Do they do it after clearing a few hurdles, say? Just curious why it wouldn't start to show IP, you know, when they supposedly started processing it.

Same here. Went IP today, but they say they started processing my application July 6th. I ordered case notes a month ago (to confirm my address change). That date of July 6th corresponded with the day my application arrived at the Ottawa VO.

I would assume that the IP notification we're seeing this week is indicative of them actually picking up our applications from the mountainous pile. The July date on our ECAS was likely when it arrived to the Ottawa VO and was added to their inventory/mountain range of applications.

Any Ottawa people who are married with no kids have any ideas how long it takes to go from IP to DM? My guess is a month, but I have genuinely no clue.

I've been IP for over a month, since August 14th, I know many others are in the same boat.

Oof. Good to know. Here's to a speedy DM to you.

I don't know why my May 12th application was included with the IP batch in August, but I've been IP for over two months, so I am not sure how much longer it will be. We're married with no kids. I would also assume that this new batch of IP would follow our more traditional idea of the IP to DM timeline, but only time will tell for sure.

Either way, it's fantastic to see some life in Ottawa!! Congrats to everyone with IP! I bet it feels awesome to see an update!

We just went in process on Friday! Says they started processing it on May 5 :)

Hi guys,

My PR application is also getting into IP too.

We received XXXXXXXX's application for permanent residence on May 19, 2015.
We started processing XXXXXXXX's application on July 27, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

God bless!

Wow, extreme001, you and I are pretty much twins! My application was filed May 20th, and started processing on July 27th as well. Hopefully this is good news for us!!

I haven't checked my CIC in about two weeks as I was driving myself crazy when I knew the wait would be a while. Just popped in today and it has changed from Application Received to In Process. Yay!

I don't know about anyone else, but my In Process date just so happens to be the same date that my file transfer happened. I wonder if that's what they're putting?

Typically IP right after SA does not mean much, especially if you haven't received the first batch email (intent to return etc). For us the actual in process started at the end of August, but the online thing shows IP since the end of April, so add around 4 months from the SA date. :)

I'm with you.

I think that the date next to we started processing your application on XXX XX is around the time when they opened the application to determine SA (or around then). I think IP literally means, "This application has been opened and will be In Progress for several months until it's Closed. We're workin' on it."

I think the day that Application Received changes to IP is likely the CIC physically pulling the application out of the giant stack and looking at it (after it arriving in the secondary VO).

It's the best explanation as to why the date ecas says they began working on an application is so far apart from the day ecas changes to show IP, and why the we started processing is around SA/transfer to VO dates.

Nearly all those who've posted details on the day ECAS showed IP and the day the CIC claims to have started processing an application follow the same trend.

It's when someone goes from Application Received to In Progress without a month or two between the status change and the date of SA/file transfer that I think it's not really IP and an error on the CIC's part. (Or someone who won the CIC lottery for having a lightning fast processing time.)

e.g.

I received SA July 7th. The date my file technically goes IP because now they're inputting my information to create a case file.

My ECAS changed from Application Received to In Progress on October 9th. The date they likely took it from a pile of applications and looked at it to begin the process of deciding whether or not I get PR.

When I click on the details of IP, ECAS reads, "We've began processing your application on July 6th." A day close to my SA date, when they technically did begin processing it to determine if I paid my fees, SA Eligibility, where it will be transferred, etc.

My case notes, pulled August 8th, show "Application is In Progress. Eligibility: Not Started. Criminality: Not Started. Security: Not Started. Medical: Passed."

I ordered my notes this week. I bet you that when I get them in a few weeks, my application will still say "In Progress," but my Eligibility, Criminality, etc. will say either "Started" or "Passed." That's how I'll know if my application is "In Progress" for PR eligibility or still showing IP when they were looking for SA eligibility.

So, tl;dr: The day ecas says they began processing it, I think, is when they truly did begin working on your file as a whole.

The day ecas changes to IP (that is usually months after SA and the day the CIC says they started processing the application) is the day they actually plop the application on their desk to assess PR eligibility.

'Tis my theory. Since the CIC doesn't give us any indicators, I'm left to my own to guess what they're doing besides twiddling their thumbs. :P

I went in-process around the 22nd of September if someone would be able to update the outland thread please:-) here is to hoping for a speedy in-process!!

Are you USA? I am just wondering cause if your application is in the US, they usually waive the PPR because it’s a visa exempt country?Atleast that’s what I’ve heard.
