with the way Ottawa is going 10 months seems like the average processing time and possibly even longer with the holidays coming up. So for those that have receive "IP" it really means jack shiiit. Theres a bunch of late 2014, early 2015 applicants who went in process months ago whose file is still collecting dust in Ottawa. :o

Got the We started processing X application on Y Date entry in ECAS today. I'm assuming the date is the actual AOR2 date because it's a few days after SA approval.

Today my husbands PR application got updated and now says : We started processing ******'s application on September 24, 2015.

We only applied back in July and I was told by the call centre that I was approved to be the sponsor on September 18th. My partner's boss advised him last week that he'd gotten a call from CIC regarding his work history with them as well.

Does this mean that the paperwork might actually get done early/soon? Or am I just reading into this too much?

That is strange that your partner's boss already received a call from CIC regarding his work history. I wonder at what point in the application process that Ottawa would confirm the principal applicant's work history.

I've never heard of the CIC contacting anyone's employers in the year+ that I've spent looking on forums, etc. Have you heard of that before, cali2bc?

That's really odd especially since you don't even have to be employed to sponsor or be sponsored, I could understand more if the sponsor's boss was getting a call but why the applicants? Maybe there was something odd with it they wanted to check out.

Nothing specific rings a bell, which is why it seemed so odd. I even checked my application to see if there is a spot to provide employer contact information, but I don't see one. If CIC had a reason to contact an employer, I would assume that this would be done by the officer assigned to the file, which would occur near the end of the application process.

I wondered the same thing, but again: why is the CIC looking at employment history when the application was only submitted in July and SA received mid September?

Prior to the whole "Great IP Debate of 2015," I'd think the CIC wouldn't be reviewing the applicant's information for another 3-4 months based on historical trends/general wait times.

It's times like this where I question whether or not the CIC is randomly picking applications out from a pile and not going chronologically. Apparently I should have paper clipped a Benjamin on the front of my application. The exchange would make that bad boy all the more enticing. :P

To all future applicants: please see the bolded text above.

They haven't gone chronologically in a long time. There were several March applicants that got through the process very quickly, and much faster than people from the last quarter of 2014. At the time, some thought it was done so CIC could say they were meeting general processing times, but I think it's more like what you said here - those people just got picked from the pile first by luck of the draw.

I'm disappointed to see a lot of those August 6 IP's still waiting. It's apparent there is a new processing protocol now since those people haven't seen much progress yet.

See? I knew I should have included that Benny.

Hindsight and all that jazz . . .

Still nothing here. Over a month since IP.

Ditto. I did my [at least] once a day eCAS check and we're still sitting at Application Rec'd. We requested our notes a couple weeks ago but when they arrive I doubt they'll show anything -- it was a way for us to at least feel like we're doing something while we wait our turn.

You know, I woke up this morning and thought: maybe they called to fill in the intended occupation field.

I ordered my GCMS notes over a month ago, and I noticed they had my "intended occupation" filled in, and did so about a week after it arriving in Ottawa. I'm wondering if they were inputting the pertinent information and simply wanted to confirm/discern what that would be?

(The rest of my application was not yet started as expected, but it seems they do input basic info shortly after arriving at the VO.)

I'm /thinking/ that they called because my husband was in Canada for three years and they wanted to verify that he was back in Canada. They would have had his bosses contact information as we included it with the file simply because he'd been in Canada. But I find it really strange that they've already called. I ordered the case notes to check into it after he told me.

It might sound strange but I wouldn't be surprised due to the recent Extremist scares that they are doing some extra security checks.
