Hi Everyone,

The Hubby and I applied for Spousal Sponsorship on June 1st 2015, when do you guys think we should try to get notes?

Thanks all!

It's only been 3 1/2 months? I'd say wait at least another 2-3 months. If you order notes now it'll likely just say that they're sitting in a pile with all the others.

Ok that's what I though. Thank you!

I admit that i'm a little embarrassed to ask this question because it may be common knowledge, but do the long processing times at CPC - Ottawa and other VO's have anything to do with receiving more applications than there are seats available in a given year? Or do files sit in inventory for long periods of time simply because of the obvious: too many applications and not enough resources?

In a perfect world where there is no backlog or waiting time, I wonder how long it would take a visa officer to approve a PR application?

Looking forward to hearing your responses!

I think for the most part it's about not enough resources. That said, I'm sure there are some quotas they try to stick to. Most of the wait time is when the application is just sitting there not being touched. After the initial spouse approval, I believe the applications just sit in piles. They're finally picked back up and it seems they take only 2-3 weeks maximum if everything is in order. At least that's what it seems like from my observations.

I completely agree with all of this! My friends and family are always shocked to hear that I've been waiting for 8 months already. :p It's ridiculous, even to people who aren't the least bit familiar with the immigration system.
I know. Perhaps the most frustrating thing about the wait is having to answer the same questions all the time.

Q: When is Emily moving here? A: As soon as the government tells us she can.
Q: Why is it taking so long? Didn't you apply months ago? A: Yes, but it's "only" been five months.
Q: Why does it take so long to get approval for an American citizen to move to Canada when she marries a Canadian? A: I have NO idea.

Honestly, it blows my mind. You're married, you've done criminal checks up front, you've done medical exams up front -- for a simple US application they should be able to churn through applications in weeks (or even days!) versus months.

Crazy, I got my notes today. My file went in process 08/06/2015 but it still being classified as FCP-Inventory lol. So my assumption is the in process means absolutely nothing as a ton of applicants got IP on August 6th. However i did get a request to pay the RPRF on 08/19/2015 and to provide a police clearance on 09/08/2015 which would not have been noted in these case notes since i ordered these 08/17/2015. I assume my next notes will have better information.

I'm a fellow August 6 IPer- that's frustrating to hear it's just in inventory :( My RPRF request came pre-IP and I never received a police clearance request.

I received my first set of GCMS notes today, which say they were requested on 8/25/2015 (originally requested 8/14/15 and then they later requested consent forms). I was one of the many applicants that saw IP on August 6. My notes indicate that my file was sent from CPC-M on 7/11/2015 and received at CPC-O on 7/15/2015. My notes indicate there was outgoing correspondence on 8/5/2015 to send SA letter to sponsor. Sponsorship Approval was granted and sent via BELA on 8/12/15. Bizarre.

Medical: Passed 6/11/2015 (when they started processing sponsorship file)
Criminality/Security: Not started
Eligibility: Not started
Location: FCP Inventory (since 7/15/2015)

Although CPC-O received my police report (not requested) on 8/20/2015, my notes do not show that this was received or matched to my file (as of 8/25/2015).

SUMMARY: In my case, IP means that my PR file is in Ottawa FCP Inventory. It's hard to be sure from my notes, but I see a pattern. The same day that they internally requested CPC-M to send my overdue SA letter, I saw an update to IP in ECAS. On the day that my GCMS notes are prepared, I see an ECAS update showing a third line of when they started processing my PR application. Although, masses of people saw updates to their ECAS on both of those dates, so this is probably a confusing coincidence. :P

My documents for my husband were supposed to be sent to Manila for processing but instead have been sent to CPC Ottawa. We are applying Outland in South Korea. Anyone know why??

Where's your husband currently living?

Honestly I have no idea why it would be sent to Ottawa then, usually they send it either to the applicant's birth country or the country they are residing in currently.

I can't help but wonder if it is a mistake in the email. I suggest calling the CIC helpline and asking about where your case was sent, if no one else here knows why. The good news is the processing times are about the same at least.

CPP-Ottawa will also take overflow from other offices that are overwhelmed. I wonder if that is what happened.

Ah that is the logical answer then.

Wow, all quiet on the Ottawa front lately! :( Does anyone have any news?? This feels like the longest I've seen with barely any updates... Really hope that means a mass DM is coming soon for all of us....
