Yeah... I am mildly upset about this. My wife is Japanese and if she would have been processed through Manila then she could have been landed by September probably.

I'd like to see these people spend 5 years away from their loved one and then think about how long they take to process these applications..And now EE even. It's just so depressing for those of us who can't be with our partners in Canada while we wait..

Hi,

So I think this is the right forum thread for me. I'm sponsoring my fiancee and two weeks ago I received SA and was told our application was to be sent to CPC Ottawa.

It goes on to say: "This visa office was selected based on your relative’s home address and the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.", but the strange thing is that we're in New Zealand. We'd assumed this whole time our case would be processed by the office in Sydney. Seems odd that they'd send it to Ottawa and say that it's because of our location.

Anyone else in the same boat?

The same for me, I'm a September applicant applying from South Australia, and ours is being processed in Ottawa as well. I'm not sure if there is rhyme or reason or if that is just the way the workload got sorted. I have recently heard from CPC-O, requesting a new police check, so I'm taking that as a good sign that they are working on our application!

Wow, September? That seems like it's taking quite a long time.

I wonder if the Sydney office is going quicker for people. Then again I guess there are so many variables, it's hard to say. No two applicants would have the same experience.

We didn't need to give them a police check... the NZ specifications said we just had to supply an authority to request one. Seemed odd, as we could have gotten one if need be, but the instructions were clear.

I do wonder how they decide which file goes to Sydney and which to Ottawa. Are were lucky or unlucky?

I think that Ottawa is taking overflow from offices that are backed with work, especially visa-exempt ones.

WOW thats good news. ;D Congrats.

CORP finally received at long last!

It has been a very long and complicated journey but we are finally at the end. The main reason our process was so long was because my husband has custody of his two children whom I am also sponsoring. In cases where the new spouse has children from a previous relationship my best advice to speed the process along is to ensure that the court that decided custody gives you specific permission to it to immigrate with the children before making your application to save yourself significant grief. Even though the noncustodial parent provided notarized permission it was not sufficient. Having to hire a lawyer halfway across the country to return to court to process a change in custody documents added at least six months to the process because by the time the court documents arrived the oldest had turned 18 and required her own criminal record check. In our case the children involved are currently 17 and 19 ( 15 and 17 when we started) so you wouldn't expect us to have to jump through so many hoops but we did.

To be honest this whole process has been a nightmare which even included at one point our file being transferred to Los Angeles because they didn't believe we were a valid couple even though we've been together seven years. I just wanted to thank everybody on the forum for the support and information they provided. It certainly kept me going during some of the darker times. I certainly wish you all a speedy process and hope nobody has to go through the craziness that we have to over the last 18 months

In any case it is finally over and we will be landing the weekend after school ends in June. Can't wait!
