Just checked ECAS.....

We started processing your application in May 8th

And now

Decision MADE!

Finally! Now let's hope for a COPR tomorrow!!

Congrats! That is awesome!!

Friday I got home from work and there was the tan envelope from CIC. I actually was afraid to open it... lol all the time and stress waiting for that damn thing to arrive came down to that moment. Took a deep breath and ripped that sucker open. There was my lovely CoPR! I cried and danced for a couple minutes afterwards and just couldn't believe this long, stressful wait was over. Actually felt the weight lift off me when I told my hubby it came in the mail. Yay!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

For the rest who are waiting, just be patient and know your CoPR will be there soon. We are all much better off than we were 8 months ago and the process is almost complete. It's tough to be patient when we see others are getting results but just know it will happen soon.

Now to start on the B4 form and get ready to move to Toronto! 8) 8) 8) 8)

Congratulations Florida Bear, I know that it feels great...looking back on it now it seems like the time flew by, but while in the middle of it, it seemed to take forever. :)

Hello, everyone!

My common-law partner and I have finally prepared our application to be sent in. He's American and I'm Canadian and we live in Vancouver, BC. He's here with a NAFTA work permit, which expires next year. We had always planned on applying inland because the CIC website specifically say that if you're living in Canada, use the inland forms. However, I've heard that you also have the option to apply outland, even if you're both living together in Canada? If it's going to be that much faster, this would be the way we would want to go.

We could always rent a PO box in Blaine, WA.

Is anyone in this thread doing that? If it's going to be that much faster, we'd rather do it that way. The only downside is that we've already paid the inland fees and I'm not sure how difficult it's going to be to get that refunded so we could pay the outland fees?

I think applying through Ottawa would be loads easier.

Thank you!

First hand experience: we live in Vancouver. I was here on a NAFTA work permit. We applied OUTLAND. No problems. Bottom line: you always have the right to apply OUTLAND. You can apply INLAND if and only if you are living in Canada with your sponsor. The CIC website is very misleading on this point, though. Indeed, the point of "Agreement in Principle" is that you are being granted special dispensation from the normal requirement that you apply for permanent residency from OUTSIDE Canada.

The fees are the same. Just send the fee paid receipt in with an outland application.

You don't need a PO Box in Blaine (actually, Point Roberts is closer in case you really care). All mail can go to you here in Canada.

My NAFTA work permit expired while the PR application was pending. I had applied for a renewal in August, landed in October, and in November they refused to process my renewal application because I was no longer eligible - they actually refunded the renewal fee. :)

Congrats Katee!! Each new completed application gives me renewed hope with this process! I wonder if that is an issue or would the border people be able to figure it out when you get there. (by bringing your old and new passports and marriage/name change certificate?)

Has anyone had problems with mail service lately? I'm sure I notice it more because I'm waiting for my husbands COPR.....but I honestly haven't gotten ANY mail in a week and now No mail yesterday, no mail today......anyone else having the same thing? Normally we get something everyday!
