All - Does anyone know the reasons for CPP-OTTAWA office transferring the files to LA office after sitting on that for more than 10 months ? Also, there seems to be no intimation on that at all.

Any clue ?

bye !

Pretty much that was my case, H1B visa working in Chicago, husband in Toronto. But the difference was the fact that the wedding was held in Chicago so I applied for my TRV from the US, i never had to go back home (Nigeria). My PR application steps in regards to location were;
App sent to Mississauga- Aug 2012
Transferred to Ottawa- Oct 2012
Transferred to LA- sometime around Feb 2013
Interview in LA- Jan 2014
and just yesterday was asked to mail my passport to LA

In regards to timeline, I sincerely hope no one has to wait as long as I have. My app was sent Aug 2012 so up till today that is a total of about 18 months.

Just wanted to make sure that I was following the right thread:
My Canadian wife (living in Canada) is sponsoring me and my dependent child (US citizens living in US) for a Family Class: Spouse sponsorship. Our application will be sent to CPC in Ottawa, correct?

Hi NicAnn,

Yes, we applied as common law. Any insight on how long it will take? We are at 10 months now (no PPR/COPR).

Thanks!
No sorry, I don't know. The waiting is so hard, I know. Stay strong!

Hi Everyone! This is my first time posting in this forum, but I have been reading it for months as I have waited for COPR. I just received my COPR this week, after 8.5 months - it was a great comfort and help to me to read everyone else's updates, so wanted to share my own dates in case they are helpful to some July 2013 applicants still waiting!

Visa Office: originally London, UK --> transferred to Ottawa CPP (indicated on sponsorship approval)
App. Filed: 12 July 2013
AOR: 30 July 2013
Sponsorship Approval: 12 August 2013
PPR / Interview Notification: None
COPR: ECAS Updated to "Decision Made" 24 March 2014; COPR Received by mail 26 March 2014 ;D

My status on ECAS showed Application Received and Medical Results Received from August 2013 when I got sponsorship approval until this Monday when it changed to Decision Made - no intermediate steps. If anyone else feels stuck I hope this is helpful!

So long! ;-)

I landed ~3 hours after I received mine... I wasn't giving them ANY opportunity to change their minds. 39 months, 17 days is far too long to spend trapped in the immigration process.

Hello everyone:

I am from a visa exempt country. My application was Decision Made on March 3. I have not received my COPR and it is March 29. I wrote to CPP-Ottawa yesterday and they wrote back that your COPR was mailed on March 3.

I believe the COPR is lost, I checked with Canada mail and they say it takes, at most, 7 business days. What can I do now? Are there any applicants in the US that have waited 4 weeks from the time Decision was made and COPR mailed? Will they send me another and request more pictures??

Thank you for helping,
Cam

Hi All - Few doubts about the Flag Polling process in the Niagra Falls bridge/ border. Kindly help.

I am a citizen of Bangladesh holding Canada PR (but, Bangladesh passport), living in Toronto at the moment. I would like to do flag polling for my son (8 years old), who is a US citizen (holding US passport). He is right now living with me in canada (on visitor visa) and has just got his COPR in hand. How do I do the flag polling in the border (Niagra Falls bridge), when I don't have a US visa for crossing the border ? Do I need the US visa to do the flag polling for him ? Am I supposed to cross the border for that ? In that case, do i need to apply for the US visa for myself before I can complete the flag polling process for my son ? Plz advise. Also, which counter/ booth i need to reach/ contact for completing this process. The booth on the US side of the bridge or the booth on the Canada side of the bridge ? May I know the exact address for that ?

Also, we can do the flag polling process only on week days or it can be done even during weekends ? Please help.

bye !!

Tell them you want to flag pole. They will deny you entry ("administrative refusal" so it doesn't count against you in the future) and stamp his passport as entered (they cannot deny HIM entry - he's a US Citizen and has right of entry).

You go to the US, you explain to the primary inspection officer that you are flag poling. They will send you to secondary inspection. The secondary inspector will stamp his passport and give you a piece of paper saying you were refused entry into the US. They turn you around at that point and off you go to Canada. On the Canadian side you give them your passport + PR card, plus HIS passport and COPR. When done, he will be a permanent resident of Canada

The address is on the CBP and CBSA website.

Hi Sir - I don't have a car and don't drive. I am planning to take a cab. Is it possible to use a cab to cross the border and complete the flag polling process ? Or can I walk in the side walks provided in the border, to complete the flag polling process ? Please advise. Thank you so much.

bye !

I know you can walk at the border crossing near me (Douglas/Peace Arch). That's probably the best option.

It depends on the CBSA office. Major land border crossings provide 24/7 immigration services. The best place to check is online: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/services/imm-eng.html
