Hi everyone, my application was tranffered to LA after sitting in Ottawa for a year. Does this mean I'm bumped to the back of the line in LA? LOs Angeles is saying it takes 22months

Are you serious? You waited a whole year to see if they started processing your app, just for them to tell you that its getting transferred to LA, man that sucks!! I would be upset, but then again the average wait time for them to begin looking at your app is 7 months, so that's not that far off from a year. They need to speed this process up, that is ridiculous.

I think so man, thats why im mad for you, but hang in there, you will land there no matter what, as long as you dont quit.

Back online again (though I forgot to bring our wireless router last time I brought stuff up here - doh!).

Anyhow, I've updated the spreadsheet with all the updates I could find. If I've missed anyone's happy news, or you've received a new update, you can feel free to PM me or post here and I'll be happy to add your updates.

It's been an eventful week: registered the kids for school (the Quebec "classes d'accueil" are really great - intensive French to get the kids acclimated), went to Service Canada, got local cellphones, signed the family up for provincial health insurance (bonus - my kids are covered from day one of landing in Quebec, so we can get a refund of the traveler's insurance we bought for them, and because my wife landed in August, her insurance will kick in Nov. 1 (if we'd waited until September to land she would have needed to wait until Dec. 1). And the array of financial subsidies/support programs for the kids is shockingly good after living in the US - the wait for the visas was long, but well worth it.

Hope you all get your COPRs soon and can land without delay! It's a good feeling to have the landing behind you.

I was able to get provincial health care as soon as my sponsor was approved to sponsor. This is taken from the BC MSP website:

"A spouse or a child of an eligible B.C. resident may also be deemed a resident provided that an application for permanent residence status has been accepted for processing by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), and the application remains active."

Me too, and I tried to send one to amikety but said the user doesn't exist... which is weird. Oh well, with both of them landing recently they surely must have lots going on so it's understandable.

Was there a particular reason (that you know of) to cause them to decide to send your app to LA? I'm just wondering the likelihood of that ever happening to any of the rest of us (myself especially). Why would they do that????!!!!????

I'm not entire sure of the reason. I called CIC and they said its to relieve work load from Ottawa but that doesn't seem consistent because everyone else who applied around the same time as me has gotten a PPR or landed already.

It's frustrating to say the least but I don't think there's much that can be done to speed up the process. I'm in the line and waiting. Its hard to believe that 12months later I'm still back at square one.

I'm very frustrated but there isn't much that I can do at this point. I have no control of where my appication goes from here. All I can do is line up and wait for Los Angeles.
What's really scary is that I've heard that some persons application gets passed back and fort between Ottawa and LA for 2-3 years before PPR.

I pray that doesn't happen. I wish you a speedy processing and hope they bump you up somewhere in the queue when your file comes in!!! GOOD LUCK!

You have a right to request the notes on your case to see what has taken place with your file. Here are links to the information. You should order them but keep in mind it will take at least 30 days for them to be delivered. I requested mine via email and got them at exactly 30 days. Good luck!!

My GCMS notes said the same about LA. I think that's happening to everyone now as an alternative office if Ottawa can't handle the volume? Dunno but I never put LA - I'm from the south east US so an LA office interview or something would be a nightmare to figure out! lol

I hope you are right! Since I got PPR already I am hoping we are at the end stages. I guess time will tell......
