hmmm, I thought the application went first to vegreville and was then transfered to Ottawa after the sponsor approval. I guess I was wrong and I have actually selected CPP ottawa as the office that I wanted my file to be processed at (on the generic form), but on the doc checklist it said to mail it to vegreville , does that matter? Also, does that mean that we would have to go to Alberta if called for an interview?
Out of curiosity, which kind of applications does ottawa cover?

If you used Inland forms, hopefully CIC will realize this and forward it to Vegreville.

Usually, they do interviews at your local office.

It does matter because the forms are different. Three possible outcomes - 1) CIC forwards it to Vegreville regardless (best); 2) CIC forwards it to Ottawa. Once they open it, they realize it's wrong and send it to Vegreville. (Okay, but may delay your application.); and 3) CIC forwards it to Ottawa. Ottawa sees its wrong and returns it to you. Probably the least attractive of options because your police certificates may expire in the meantime.

There's also a chance Ottawa will tell you that you've sent in the wrong forms and request the correct forms!

According to CIC, my application went in process July 17, 2013. Ya know, 8 days after I got PPR.

My IO must be psychic :D
 
I did the medical exam in Dec. 2012 before we filed the application.
But we received the request to do the medical exam again. Does anyone know why...?
 
Wow im starting to feel the stress build up!! I have no problems with police certificates as I didnt need any, however the 3rd option sounds the least attractive, does that mean they will request a new form or they will toss my application in the garbage and I would have to start all over? I did use inland forms, but because I was under the impression that Ottawa handled inland apps, I picked Ottawa. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Outland USA, Outland Manila and a few other Outland offices.

Amikety, I must clarify that my application is already in Vegreville. I followed the instructions in the doc checklist for inland and mailed it to vegreville. Should I call CIC and let them know that I made a mistake by picking Ottawa? or should I wait and see what they do?

You could try emailing the Visa Office directly. I wouldn't waste time on the call centre. They can't do much besides offer you advice like we do here at the forum, but they are paid.

Agreed. The call centre can only offer general advice. They have no visibility into your application. Any specific question I asked them regarding my situation, they always said that it is best to e-mail the VO.

It won't matter. CIC doesn't really use that information unless there is a choice of offices available (hmm, maybe you'll be asked to do your landing appointment in Ottawa). When you get AOR, update the form and send in the updated form so you don't have to worry - but the stage 1 processing time for inland is sitting at 10 months right now (October 8, 2012 - 10 months ago) so you have a long wait before they even BOTHER to look at those forms.
