Did you order your GCMS notes yet? Our first set showed that all of the requested docs and passport copies had been logged by the visa officer and are marked as "received" on March 21, but that the VO hadn't yet done anything to process the application since then, and the security clearance still needed to be started. This was confirmed by our MP when he called a few weeks ago. We've ordered the notes again, but they won't arrive for another 3 weeks or so.
No we haven't, because I keep thinking we will have COPR in the amount of time it takes to get GCMS notes. Maybe we should. My husband called his MP again on Friday, but we'll see what they can do. I'll let you know if we decide to order the notes.

That's what I thought too, yet here we are, still waiting. I e-mailed our MP earlier today - he was definitely responsive last time, but they don't have much influence during the first year when the application is pending. I thought about e-mailing Jason Kenney as well, but somehow I think that's probably pretty pointless...

It may be pointless..... unless you can get his direct email address, not the one that goes to his staff.

I got ahold of my university president's private work email when I was having problem with the admissions department and emailed him my story. Things got fixed fast, although I never heard from him.

So, miracle of miracles, we actually got an email response to our query we sent on June 27.

Dear Madam / Sir,
Your application is in process. No further action is required by you at this time.
An immigration officer will be in contact with you if any further correspondence is needed.
We thank you for your patience [yeah, I'm sure... 8) ] and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
Regards,
Bearing in mind they've not responded to us in the past, does this mean "in process", as in "yeah, we've got your application, we'll get to it when we get to it, now just sit on your hands and stop bothering us," or does this mean "in process", as in "we're actually looking at it - no joke"? I hate trying to parse this stuff.

E-CAS, ever unhelpful, hasn't changed yet.

Now I completely can't concentrate, and I am at work trying to do extremely boring work. Ugh.

Nexus, the group who submitted their apps seems to be up for PPR/COPR right now, and they somewhat go in order, so I would think that you're a bit early.

Brightredscream, I also saw the ECAS switch to "address: Edmonton, Canada". Given the mail delay between Canada and the US, I think I was really lucky to get my COPR in 21 days.
Just FYI, we saw no ECAS change throughout the entire ordeal until after the PPR notification. When I emailed my passport copies, I included a very polite plea to expedite the COPR given that my lease would not be extended beyond July 31st. After approximately 10 days, my husband emailed another polite plea for expedition, and we received a very prompt response that the COPR was in queue to print. Personally, I wouldn't contact CIC unless my case fell outside the timeline shown by the others (not the CIC "average"). I'm guessing that contacting them very sparingly is the better part of valor.

It does seem that contacting them at certain times "spurs the mule"! Ivan, here's hoping things are in motion for you!! I'm packing, as well, going through bubble wrap and paper by the boatload, lol. Glad to see comments in the forums about generalizing what is in boxes because I've been itemizing piece by piece!

Sorry, left off info!
Nexus, the group that submitted apps in December is seeing activity now. I feel your pain, the last month before we saw the PPR was excruciating!

I'm happy (in the overall scheme of things) to hurry up and wait. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some confirmation kinda thing others were doing to ensure they didn't get to the end of the normal timeline only to hear "we never got your application" I was reading several references to talking to/emailing an MP and I wondered a bit.

So not that ECAS is a wealth of updated info, but will I ever switch from checking Sponsorship with my sponsor's info to PR with my info?

I got that same response when I had no idea what was going on with my application. A few days later I got an email from them. So there, expect "something" to happen this week or next. :p

So I'm 4.5 months in and I haven't gotten anything since Sponsor approval and ECAS is also still the same since SA. Should I be calling or emailing just to be sure the file is somewhere/they have all they need/just waiting to be processed kinda thing? I see folks mention calling an MP. Not sure what MP stands for. Just don't want to wait 8 months only to find out "We never received your file, please resubmit"

I can hurry up and wait, but just want to be sure I shouldn't be doing any checking up in order to not make the process any longer than it already is!

And for the record... I still check ECAS under Sponsorship using my Sponsor's info right?

TIA,
Nexus2013
My husband and I have been at this 7 months total now, haven't heard anything other than Hubby's sponsorship approval.

If you got Sponsor Approval, they got your file ;)

If it isn't past your VOs posted processing times (what is on CIC's website), contacting your MP is largely a waste of time.
