Hi Buffy,

You don't send in your passport because you are from a visa-exempt country. But even though they already have a copy of your passport, they may ask for another to be emailed to them. As for the timelines, it's really impossible to tell. We received our PPR on February 6, emailed a passport copy the same day and no decision has been made yet.
Thanks Frank,

I am less concerned now about moving knowing i can come and go after PPR. Still alot to consider right now!!

Hi Everybody,

I have a question and was wondeirng if anyone can advice me about best action :

We sent the application of my wife to CPP-O. She is currently visiting me. On the application, we have the primary telephone number as the US number and the secondary telephone as my number in canada.

- Do I need to update the contact , since she is not using the US number now ? - or they would just use the alternative no. or email ?
- What is the best way to do that ?
- Does this slow down the process ?

Thanks in advance

They may actually ask for the actual passport. They aren't consistent with the copies quite yet. Just to prepare you in case they DO ask for the actual passport.

I'm not too sure what you think your consultant is going to be able to do. Whatever s/he does, you can do yourself. S/he will probably just e-mail Ottawa or call the call centre and that's all they can really do.
Yes, I realize that I can do this myself and i also realize that all i can do is send an email But I've been paying close attention to the forum and it seems that at the Ottawa visa office when someone sends an email inquiry they tend to relieve there COPR very shortly after. Kind of as though Ottawa visa officers need a little kick in the butt to find the file again and finalize. It's worth a shot...

Including applications since February of last year, the average PPR to COPR is 23 days. However, there are some cases where it takes well over 50 days. Also, there are other cases where PPR was requested some time ago and COPR seems not to have reached the applicant (such as for jakesalomons, Canuck_28, SocialMe, CdnRNUSN, Viictus, Didi87, tavora, frankinto, Agnelo, etc.) It seems they are being held back by probably a backlog.

I'm more so worried about whether or not they received the passport copy as it said on the letter that they MUST receive it within 60 days so that's really what I'm worried about. So I'm just looking for some correspondence from them before the 60 days is up saying that they have indeed received the copy.

The email has been sent. Ill keep everyone updated if I hear anything.

Thanks again for everyone's help and advice. This forum really is helpful in a lot of ways

Isn't there an automated reply that comes when you email Ottawa? That would be your proof that you've sent the passport copies, unless you sent them by mail, in which case the courier receipt would be the proof... But I do think your strategy of sending them a question is a good one to get them to finally send out your COPR.

We e-mailed it to them. I've heard of some people getting an automated e-mail upon receipt of the passport copy and others who haven't. In my case I've heard nothing at all from them since the PPR request. No confirmation or anything. So I guess we will see. I sent the passport copy initially with the file back in July anyway so they should now have two copies. Who knows. All I can do is send an e-mail and wait patiently again... grrr lol.

I guess patience is a virtue ::) I got decision made on February 28th, inquired about what the decision was and received e-mail from CPP-O on March 8th saying our application has been approved. I am also still waiting for COPR, checking the mailbox everyday....

It won't be a big hassle, but it may be a minor annoyance. They should be OK with the COPR pending receipt of the PR card, but it may require someone senior to approve a deviation from normal protocol.

4. Can I talk to employers once I get PPR to let them know I will be issued a PR card soon, I guess the more appropriate questions is if I speak to potential employers, what timeline should I give them for me to be able to start work?
You don't need a PR card to work. You need a SIN and you can get that immediately after landing. Take your passport and COPR to a Service Canada office and they will assign your number. They print out a sheet, stamp it and hand it to you. It takes ~5 minutes once you get to see a real agent.

How long is she staying? When did you send in the application? Both would be helpful because I don't know if their contact of you is imminent or if it will be some time. Will she be in Canada for a month, two, six?

I'm not sure it will change much, but you could be lucky and the VO could pick up your package. You just never know.

Thanks for your response. We are still at early stages. I got approved month and half ago. I sent an application to extend her stay for another 6 mnths (don't know how this will go).
