Actually I have a similar question. I am sponsoring my US spouse outland and when I received SA, the email said that the application had been transferred "abroad" for processing at CPP-Ottawa. Why are some apps kept for processing in Mississauga and others sent to CPP-Ottawa? Apologies if this has been discussed in earlier threads.

There's not much that stays in Mississauga from what I can tell - people from the Middle East who are from countries that have a lot of internal strife, like Syria, are staying, and more recently some that are straightforward that would normally go to London are staying because London is now handling all the overflow from Pakistan. And let's face it...if all of a sudden a bunch of applications went to Mississauga, then it would just slow up there too.

What would really tick me off is if my app went to London six months ago and was still in the queue, while someone who applied later got approved a lot faster simply because they decided to start processing overflow in Mississauga.

Why would those apps stay in Mississauga,? Come on ottawa give me DM before summer so I can enjoy the beautiful Calgary summer :-X

Who knows :( ... The ones who stayed in Sept who stayed in Mississauga have no idea why and I really doubt they cared to find out lol.. It seemed so random, but I am sure there is some reason to the madness!... I have read around here that no matter if the app stays in Mississauga or goes to the destined VO its supposed to take the same amount of time. However, that is obviously a load of C$%^@! lol

I haven't seen an US Citizen stay in Mississauga yet. But I could be wrong. We all tend to go over "abroad" to Ottawa! lol

Got COPR today!

Will be driving to Peace Bridge this weekend and do the U-turn, since we're both already in Toronto. Thanks for all the help and best of luck to those still waiting!

I believe the FBI check has to be valid when they receive the application. If they already have it and the check expires they do not ask for a new check . With the processing times being almost 10 months in Ottawa I don't see them asking for 3+ FBI checks while we wait.

Their info is on the Ottawa Spread Sheet

I was going to say the same thing...you never see anyone getting asked for new FBI checks after they expire. If they did that, everyone would be doing them over at least once and often twice.

Hi Everyone!

Me and my husband got SA yesterday and found out our visa office will be Ottawa :)

Best wishes for everyone here!

As noted as long as your police check is valid when CIC recieve the application that's all you need to do. They are valid for 3 months from date of issue!

EDIT: I see this has now changed credit to Canuck_in_uk and Ponga for posting its now valid for 6 months.

Is anyone a master of the google sheet? It is a shame that the formula for column Q (total processing time from submission to visa issuance) is no longer working for the most current DMs. I've had trouble changing the colours in the full line let alone the formula to reflect number of days. This will help us average weeks, see trends etc. Thanks in advance if anyone can do this without mucking up the sheet as I most certainly will!

Fixed. everything moving forward will calculate automatically.

I left my car's title in the states with all my paperwork, which was dumb, but im thinking I may just put my car on my b4, list of goods to follow, to deal with laterrr. I also plan to drive down and get my stuff before I come up to land so technically I think I can email the peace arch my title and itn# but they'd have to see it in person to stamp it. So I'd have to do the loop twice anyway haha. Once to land drivin up from Oregon and then another time to export and import my car.

Lol XD the appeal of putting off my car till after I land sounds lovely but I'm hoping my dad can find my title and just mail it to me. It's buried in all my files. But it'd be nice to do it all at once!

Just thinking out loud, I can't believe applicants from sept are getting approved! Fingers crossed.
