I just stalked your profile and saw you're from Pennsylvania - we're in Philadelphia (though not for long we hope!).

I'm from philly too! I'm living in Toronto now with my husband.

When my husband called the call centre (a hopeless attempt at information) they told him the reason they may not be replying is because he is the sponsor and not the applicant, so I sent an email instead. They responded a couple days later. It's worth a try I suppose.

Every time they bother to reply, you'd think they could just take the 2 minutes to finish off our applications. How much time could it take?

I'll join the love fest.... my mom is from Philly - Swathmore to be exact. (Might be spelling that way wrong.)

But I am not nor do I like cheesesteak. Tastes fine - texture doesn't agree with me.

Talked to the call centre agent today... She checked my file and said it looks like they are just checking my background stuff now, nothing looks out of the ordinary on the file from what she can see - said she can't see much since Ottawa has it and my file has not been updated as receiving the new medical xray but she sees something on there about it being done so she said they may have it, just not updated the file yet. Said it could be up to 3 months.

Also said that the current time is 14 months from the date of sponsor approval... that if I didn't hear anything by April 2014 then I should call. *sigh*

The call centre agent was able to check your file a bit? When I called, the agent said he has no visibility into my case since Ottawa has it.

Maybe the strike is catching up to them and things are dragging down......... frustrating but what can we do?

They said that's all they could see, but since Ottawa has it they couldn't give me any information on the status or anything. But she did say it doesn't look like they will be requesting anything at this time. *shrug*

Yeah, it's very frustrating since I've been at this since May 2012.

We would have done inland if I'd had any inkling or suspicion that this would take so long. It's really an appalling level of service, especially considering the application cost, and CIC stands out among the Canadian government agencies I've interacted with as being much, much worse than most.

Really, for any government agency to become two months slower in a three-month period is beyond the pale, and displays a craven indifference on the part of those running the process (doing my best to keep politics out of this forum! 8)) to the lives this process affects. I don't attribute this to the striking workers, but to the people in charge.

Agreed! And I'd have done inland too. I could have at least been able to get a work permit on principal approval by this point.

Exactly, and since our applications are formally "in process," I don't think we'd get refunds if we tried to withdraw and reapply inland.

I should have done inland as well, however just last year Outland was so much faster. I think closing the Buffalo office (with experienced ppl) and opening the Ottawa office (with no experience) really skewed things.

I will join the PA craze......I'm from central PA but my daughter is about to accept a full ride to Drexel University on an athletic/academic scholarship. So I guess I will have to get used to visiting the Philly area!! Nothing like a true Philly cheesesteak!!

It's okay. I couldn't have been any more grumpy than the CBSA agent that did my landing. The US border patrol was all smiles and jokes - he even let my husband enter the USA without asking any questions or stamping his passport :O

We drove to Carway. Got a little lost (missed a turn) and got to explore the countryside some too.

It's all done! I am landed :D Thanks to everyone for their well wishes & birthday wishes :D

Hey, I wanna hear DETAILS lady! :P

CONGRATS!!

Oh wow! A full ride to Drexel! Congrats!

I always wanted to got here but it was crazy expensive and I was a nerdy non-athlete.

It's an amazing school for sure!! The deal isn't "done" yet but she will be made an offer at the end of September when she is on campus (she is only going to be a junior in high school this year so no offers can be made except verbal for now). Architecture is her dream and I hear the program is phenomenal there. Any insights on the area where the school is located? That is my biggest fear as I hear it borders on a rough area of Philly.

Congrats to everyone who is landing/getting COPR. I'm getting nervous/frustrated as all of January seems to have gotten PPR's and I am Feb. applicant and so far nothing. :o ??? :-X :'(
