Covid 19 and MPNP (In Canada applicants)

Hello friends,

I an in Manitoba on PGWP. I started to work on Feb 03,2020. Before Feb 03, 2020 I worked full time for around 4 months in Tim Hortons. I had been temporarily laid off on April 1,2020 due to Covid 19 impact on business and don't know when employer will call me back on job. I couldn't fulfill now 6 months of continuous job experience under one employer criteria of MPNP skilled worker in Manitoba stream. My PGWP will expire on October 8, 2020.

Will they consider my time wasted sitting at home due to covid 19 as an work experience if I present evidence from employer? I am getting different answers each time I call to MPNP.

it would be great if someone can guide me on this. I am worried about my stay in Canada after Oct 08, 2020.

Only MPNP can answer your question as they will be the ones who actually approve your application or not. Try to get an answer in writing.

Thank you. Actually,they are not replying to any email. i had already sent 2 emails 6 months ago but no reply.

6 months ago the lockdown hadn’t started. If you haven’t contacted them recently I would contact MPNP again or ask your MP to try and get an answer for you. Manitoba opened earlier than other provinces So are you sure Tim Hortons will be rehiring you? Other employees must have returned to work many weeks ago.

i sent them 3 emails but none has been answered...tried to talk with them on phone and they told it is still in waiting list to be answered by officer..when i asked about my current situation by calling them twice, each time they are giving different answer.. i left tim hortons because i got another job with double salary..i can't go back to tim hortons as to be eligible for mpnp , i must work under one employer for 6 months.

Sorry missed “before”. Have you returned to work? Manitoba opened up quite a while ago.

Not yet...i am still employed with same employer..they may call me back in august and by that time i will have lost 4 months..manitoba has opened up but due to losses occured to business, not all employees are being called to return to work...people are not getting even 30 hours..companies are trying to manage losses with minimum staff.

Would be trying ro secure other enployment if you have not started already.

Yes but didn't hear back anything..i have record of all job applications.
