Covering letter - Handwritten OR typed and signed?

Hi all,

I have two covering letters explaining my job + non availability of PCC at this time. I have typed and printed on a computer and signed and dated at the bottom. Is this the norm or should all covering letters only be handwritten?

Also all signatures in IMM forms etc can be blue inked? Or only black?

I typed, date and signed all letters I attached.
For the signatures I used blue and black ink. Shouldn't really matter as long as it's not pencil or somethen weird.
