Personal View - Post 18 March CoPR holders are not allowed to travel ( might be few exceptions like family reunification etc). So if your CoPR has expired OR is about to expire, the logical thing would be to inform IRCC of your CoPR status and on your inability to travel owing to COVID situation. There is nothing more than this I think you can do. again strictly a personal view :)
Would suggest just go through IRCC website to understand on post 18 March CoPR

I am a pre-March 2020 Copr holder which expired in July 2020. Today I got Do you still want to immigrate to Canada email. which I intend to reply soon with Yes. I am a little confused with one detail i.e. my wife is pregnant and she has the due date at the end of June 2021. So do I have to add this detail in my reply email? as it's only two months left and I am sure it will take more than two months in the whole processing/reassessing of our application. Can someone please guide me with this?? thanks
I think you must mention it in your reply about your expected baby.

if you have noticed, at the end of IRCC email there is written as;
"Please also include any other updated information about your or your family’s situation which could affect your application – for example, information about any new passport that has been issued to you, new dependants, any changes to family configuration due to marriage, divorce, birth, etc., as well as any information that could impact your admissibility to Canada such as new criminal charges or convictions."

Guys. I know a lot of people get annoyed by the fact that anyone who resides in the US can actually go to the border and activate their PR as opposed to those who are somewhere else. I am from EU and my Copr expires in 2 weeks. I thought I would take my chances and do everything I could legally do to not let my Copr expire. I flew to Mexico and spent 14 days there. I couldn't fly to the US directly because the US restricts flying from the Schengen area. After 14 days in Mexico, I flew to California where I bought a car and drove to the US/Canada border. I could rent a car also but I thought I might as well buy it as I would need a car in Canada from the very beginning. I wouldn't have to pay tax on it as it's in the goods to follow list. Today I crossed the border. First exported my car out of the US and then drove up to the Canadian side. Activated my PR, imported the car and went away to a quarantine place where I am at now. It was kinda complicated but I was really fed up with waiting and waiting. I wanted to move on with my life. I am happy I did it and am finally a Permanent Resident of Canada. To anyone who is able to do what I did: just do it. Do not wait. It's doable, it costs more money but hey, the wait is finally over!
No family in Canada. No job offer. Not except in any way. COPR issued November 2020
Congratulations @sunkilmoon ! Bold of you to try it that way !

Did you have to go through the land border ? Or you could have taken a flight too ?
Did you have to stay any duration in US at all ? Did they ask you at the border how long you were in US ?

My temporary visa in Australia is running out and I'm wondering if I should try something like this too...

They should be aware of that, but maybe worth mentioning you won't lose anything... How long did it take from remeds to PPR?

I am a pre 18th Mar case.. may be thats the reason. Not sure if you too are pre 18th Mar. But hoprfully you will get it soon.
Same, i am a pre march copr holder - copr expired in Dec 2020, and in December IRCC requested new medicals which i did early Jan and passed it..i've ordered GCMS notes to understand what my application status is as nothing has changed since Jan when they updated medicals.

Goodluck with the next steps and big move :)
