Hi,
Does anyone know what happens to my contribution to US social security now that I am a Canadian citizen?
I worked in the US on H1-B visa for several years. During that time I was a citizen of India. Since India and US don't have a treaty for Social Security benefits, my contribution to the US social security would not benefit me at any point in my life. But now I am a Canadian citizen. And Canada and US have an International Agreement on social security.
So my questions is - how do I make sure that my contribution to US social security while on H1-B visa impacts my retirement in a beneficial way now that I am a Canadian citizen.
Thanks.
