Hi All ,
I am a SAP consultant with 12 + years of SAP Experience . I have development as well as consulting experience . But issue is , I am a 3 years Bachelors in science ( Physics + Chemistry+ Mathematics ) general candidate with no specialization . Job code 2171 describes me the best but when I go through the employment requirements I face the following issue:

Employment requirements
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, software
engineering, business administration or a related discipline
or - I do not have any of the above but not sure if "Bachelors in science ( Physics + Chemistry+ Mathematics ) general candidate with no specialization" would be considered in "related discipline"
Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.
• Experience as a computer programmer is usually required. I do have experience as computer programmer .
• Certification or training provided by software vendors may be required by some
employers.- I have certificates .

Please suggest .
Thanks and Regards,
Arnab Mondal.

Your choice of NOC must depend on your job responsibilities. In this case, if you perform the duties of an Information systems analyst/consultant, you can certainly choose NOC 2171. The employment requirements are good-to-have, they are not mandatory unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Hi Asivad , thanks for the reply . Yes you are correct and I agree to what you say . However , I am not sure what according to "Express Entry " requirement is a " explicit statement " . I am sharing the contents of 2171 below. Let me know based on your expertise , if there is any explicit statement on "Employment requirements "

Main duties
The following is a summary of the main duties for some occupations in this unit group:
• Information systems business analysts and consultants confer with clients to identify and
document requirements, conduct business and technical studies, design, develop,
integrate and implement information systems business solutions, and provide advice on
information systems strategy, policy, management, security and service delivery.

• Systems security analysts confer with clients to identify and document requirements,
assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware, and develop
policies, procedures and contingency plans to minimize the effects of security breaches.
• Information systems quality assurance analysts develop and implement policies and
procedures throughout the software development life cycle to maximize the efficiency,
effectiveness and overall quality of software products and information systems.
• Systems auditors conduct independent third-party reviews to assess quality assurance
practices, software products and information systems.

Employment requirements
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, software
engineering, business administration or a related discipline
or

Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.
• Experience as a computer programmer is usually required.
• Certification or training provided by software vendors may be required by some
employers.

When they say usually required, it means it isn't mandatory but good-to-have. You're good to go with 2171 provided your job responsibilities match the main duties.

I really want to clarify the NOC code issue. So I have worked with 3 companies and now in the 4th company. Please see below for the details-

Company 1: Research Executive (1 year tenure)
Collected data using both primary and secondary methods like internet, telephone, focus group discussions etc. Data processing and analysis using Excel, SPSS & XLSTAT. Carried out test hypothesis, estimation theory and analysis of variance to estimate the characteristics of population on the basis of sample.Preparation of reports on sales trends as well as consumer demographics, preferences, needs and buying habits. Client management including query handling. Project management which included supervision of field personnel and monitoring work progress.
Company 2: Senior Analyst (2.1 years) promoted to Consulting Operations Manager (6 months)= Total 2.7 years
Performed various activities related to auditing, job mapping, analysing and reporting executive compensation data of organizations.Created and generated innovative and successful Visual Basic module named Cross border tool that is being used to convert data from different countries into one uniform unit. Utilized statistical concepts like time series forecasting to provide projected figures to assist in formulating key decisions.Used multiple regression techniques to employ a curvilinear line and determine the predictive reliability between different compensation variables . Managed a team of 11 associates, establishing operational standards, guidelines and procedures to deliver accurate, on-time and cost effective solutions for consulting products
and services. Ensured that complex statistical concepts were explained in an easy way to the employees
by implementing a robust quest idea of “Training and development” of associates. This was awarded as the Best Quest Idea of the quarter.
Company 3: Business Analyst (2.5 years)
Applying judgement sampling technique and utilizing complete enumeration bases in order to determine and define groups to be surveyed. Carrying out data collection and modelling through both primary and secondary methods with respect to e-commerce, consumer behaviour, per capita spend, growth in the industry, web analytics and customer traffic trends.Identifying opportunities and executing analytical solutions to produce relevant data and describe particular patterns in consumer buying.Using forecast and trend analysis to recognize trends and relationships within the data and conducting tests to find out the data’s reliability and validity. Creating robust and user friendly Visual Basic Modules in excel to understand inventory planning and real time personalization utilized across various sales channels like different websites and other retail customers.Maintaining development and understanding of components of volume forecasts including consumption trends, separation of base and incremental volume, changes in customer inventory and other factors.
Company 4 -Current Company : Assistant Manager Human Resource consulting (4 months till date)

My education (Bachelors in Mathematics and Masters in MSc.Operational research)

As per my understanding below is the exact match for my different work experiences.

Company 1 : Research Executive (1 year tenure) matched to "4163"
Company 2 : Senior Compensation Analyst (2.1 years) promoted to Consulting Operations Manager (6 months)= Total 2.7 years matched to "1121"
Company 3 : Business Analyst (2.5 years) matched to "1122"
Company 4 -Current Company: Assistant Manager Human Resource consulting (4 months till date) matched to "1121"

I already have the invite for PR with 471 points. However, a friend (immigration lawyer) told me that my NOC code might be wrong so I might have to decline the invitation.

Considering my education and the commonality between my work experiences, I chose “Statistician-2161” as my NOC for all jobs. Also I have got positive outcome from Australia for this occupation and hence thought of applying to Canada through the same occupation. I would request you guyz to help me out with this! Please suggest.

Your friend is partially correct.

Your choice of NOCs appears incorrect for Company 2 and 4 unless you work in core HR practice for an organization.

2161 seems more appropriate for Company 2 and you could possibly justify 1122 for those jobs as well. However, you don't have to decline the ITA because it wasn't contingent on your choice of NOC. You can choose a different NOC in your post ITA application - make sure you change your primary NOC to 1122/2161 as well depending on what you are choosing for Company 2.

All the best!
