Clarification needed by AINP on NOC code

Hello

I received a NOI from Alberta last October on Noc code for civil engineers 2131. Since, this is a broad NOC code my work experience did not contain exactly same specifications as 2131, rather some specifications from NOC code 2231. My education credentials are according to 2131 but work is closer to 2231. AINP wants more info on this matter. I do not know what to provide them with. Does anyone else had same experience?

Post the full letter from IRCC.
 
These job duties would not be considered to fall under your primary occupation NOC code 2131 – Civil Engineers, but under NOC 2231 – Civil engineering technologists and technicians. Based on the information provided by your employer, we are not satisfied that the work experience you declared in your application is accurate. We would like to provide you with the opportunity to respond to this information. Forward any new and relevant information you would like us to consider, other than what has already been provided, by Monday.

If the work is closer to the job duties of 2231, then you have an uphill battle ahead of you and it sounds like you selected the wrong NOC. It may make sense to withdraw the application.

If you want to try to move forward, then you need to convince IRCC that your job is a closer match to 2131 than 2231. The trick is that you have to be careful what documents you submit to make sure there is no chance they see this as misrepresentation. If you want to try to get the application approved, then you need a new job from your employer which explains why your job is a match to 2131. You would want to be careful with the job duties listed in that new letter. For example, you would want to be careful about removing any job duties that were in your original letter and a closer match to 2231 since IRCC may view this as misrepresentation and an attempt to get the letter to match the NOC you have selected rather than reflecting your true job duties.

It's a tricky situation. Based on your first post, you selected the wrong NOC. So it's going to be pretty difficult to prove the wrong NOC is a match you your job. I'm not sure what to suggest at this point. Again, withdrawing the application may make sense.
 
Thanks for the reply. The problem is NOC 2231 is for technicians while NOC 2131 is for Civil Engineers. In my above-mentioned job (I got it after my Bachelor's degree), I was leading three subordinates who could be easily classified under NOC 2231. I am currently doing my PhD in civil engineering itself in one of top ranked Civil Engineering Universities in US. If I am going to immigrate to Canada, I would not do a job in NOC 2231 as technician in any possible scenario. Since, civil engineering is a broad field, it most probably be under NOC 2131 in one way or another. I am thinking of explaining all this in an email to them, with detailed explanation of my job duties.

Sure, you can try that. You definitely also need a new letter from your employer.

Yes, I explained my situation in a very lengthy email to them. I did not get any letter from my ex-employer. They were satisfied with my explanation and ended up giving me the nomination.

We are thinking to apply for ainp!! My husband works a geotechnical engineering in training,same his noc resembles both 2131 and 2231 what should we do in this case???

yes, we have to submit the work history. I submitted that and currently waiting for review of my profile. They have not started it yet. it would be best to apply in civil engineering NOC 2131, if you have a civil engineering degree, best to prepare the explanation for them, if they ask why, you choose this NOC code.
