Hey guys have a quick question about citizenship, I just got my residency and won't be able to apply for citizen till like 2019 with the new law bill C24. All the days before residency don't apply right. Now my question is I am going to be working with a long haul transport company which will be having me drive to the U.S. So will the days I drive working affect me as well or is there any way it won't count against me? I just want to now so I know how long it will take to apply for citizenship.

Any day you spend entirely in the US will be deducted from your citizenship residency count. So it really depends how long you will be spending in the US on each trip.

So even though am working for a Canadian company which tax me it still count against me regardless! That seem very unfair!

Citizenship requires physical presence in Canada. In order to count a day as a residency day towards citizenship - at least part of that day has to be spent in Canada. It's not unfair at all. This is how citizenship rules work in the vast majority of countries.

Unless you work for the federal government, days fully spent outside Canada do not count towards citizenship. Sorry, I know how you feel. I had a lot of business trips when i was PR and despite it being for a Canadian company, the days didn't count and I had to wait to make up those days.

The only scenario, when outside of Canada days counts, is when you work for Canadian government or sent by Canadian government on an official business trip.

I think you should look into this further, maybe call them and ask! Because you are not living in anither country but simply driving there for work. There might be a loophole.

There is no loophole and it would be a waste of time to call anyone. If he spends an entire day outside of Canada then this day cannot be counted towards the citizenship residency requirement. It doesn't matter that he is living in Canada. Citizenship requires physical presence.

Easiest way to check is to use CIC's online citizenship residency calculator. The calculator will show you immediately these days don't count.

I disagree. To OP, you won't lose anything by phoning and asking.

The answer is black and white. There are no loop holes (any loop holes that existed were shut down by CIC years ago). If you have any doubts - post this question to the Citizenship section of the forum where everyone is intimately familiar with the citizenship rules. You'll get an answer pretty quickly.

There is no point in asking. CIC call centre agents are also well known for giving out wrong info so if they say anything other than the black and white answer that days outside Canada do not count, it will just be wrong info and could cause harm to OP if he proceeds with citizenship app under the wrong assumptions.
