Hi everyone,

I submitted my Canadian citizenship application on September 1, 2024, and received my AOR on October 9, 2024. Initially, my file was in Sydney, then transferred to Scarborough, then Vancouver, and finally to Mississauga.

My oath ceremony was scheduled for December 10, 2024, but it was canceled without explanation. When I requested my GCMS notes, they showed that my application was initially granted citizenship, but later ungranted and referred to a Senior Officer.

After about four months, I received an email from an officer in Mississauga asking me to submit scanned copies of all my passport pages, translations, and records of my entry and exit stamps. I submitted everything they requested, but I have not received any updates since then.

Currently, my online tracker still shows “waiting on you”, even though I have already provided the requested documents. My Background and Test are marked as Completed, but my application is stuck at LPP (Language, Physical Presence, and Prohibitions).

Has anyone experienced something similar? Does this mean my case is now considered complex (non-routine)? How long should I expect to wait?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

You’re not alone in this. What you describe usually means extra verification, not a refusal. When an oath is canceled and a senior officer steps in, it often turns into a non-routine file. That can be triggered by travel history or passport discrepancies. Asking for full passport scans is very common at that stage. The tracker lagging behind is also normal and frustrating. “Waiting on you” often stays even after documents are uploaded. LPP is usually the last hurdle. Timelines vary a lot, but many people wait several more months after this step. It’s slow, but still moving.

The best thing you can do right now is stay responsive and keep copies of everything you submit. If they needed more, they would usually ask again. Silence at this stage doesn’t mean a problem. It just means the file is sitting in a queue. Try not to read too much into automated messages. They rarely update in real time. Focus on what you can control and give it time. Many cases resolve without any further action once LPP clears.
