Hi everyone, I need help with my citizenship application as I have visited 2 country in during my trip
As Feb 2023 to April 2023 spent time in USA then fly to India for April to May 2023 and came back to USA with family for May to September 2023
Then return to Canada in September 2023.

Should I only enter the dates and say family visits , as we have only 150 word to write

2. Do we need to upload a coped of NOA in options document or if it is not mandatory???

"Family visit. Traveled from USA to India from April x 2023 to May y 2023".
There you go, and with plenty of characters to spare.
And no need to upload anything they didn't ask for, and they didn't ask for NOAs.

Subject: Clarification Needed – Valid Temporary Resident Status Before PR in Citizenship Application

Dear Experts,

I hope you are doing well.

I have a question regarding the online Canadian citizenship application, and I would appreciate your guidance.

In the application, there is the following question:

“During your 5-year eligibility period, did you have a valid temporary resident status before becoming a permanent resident?”

As a refugee claimant, I am unsure whether the correct answer should be “Yes” or “No”. I have received mixed responses from others who have already submitted their applications.

Here is my situation:
  • After filing my refugee claim, IRCC issued me a 2-year work permit, which I later renewed for another 2 years.
  • When I select “Yes”, I am presented with the following four options:
    1. Visitor Visa
    2. Temporary Foreign Worker
    3. International Student
    4. Temporary Resident Permit Holder
My question is:
  • Does my refugee claimant work permit fall under the category of “Temporary Foreign Worker”?

I also want to mention that the next question in the application asks:

“During your 5-year eligibility period, did you have valid protected person status before becoming a permanent resident?”

For this, I have clear answers and the exact dates:
  • Date I submitted the refugee claim
  • Date I was approved as a protected person

However, the issue is with how it affects the physical presence calculation:
  • If I answer “No” to the first question (temporary status), my citizenship days show 1105.
  • If I answer “Yes” and enter my work permit details, my days increase to 1165.

I’m unsure which selection is technically and legally correct in this situation.

I would greatly appreciate any expert advice or feedback from others who have faced the same situation.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Kind regards,

For your citizenship application, you should enter the dates and briefly mention that you were visiting family, keeping it simple due to the 150-word limit. As for the NOA, only upload it if it’s explicitly required in the instructions. If it's not mentioned, it’s likely not mandatory.
