Hi everyone,
I’m currently filling out my online Canadian Citizenship application and looking for community feedback on how you handled date alignment between Address History, Work/School History, and the Physical Presence (Travel Log).
Here is my complete timeline for context:
August 19, 2022: Entered Canada.
August 12, 2023: Left Canada and flew to Pakistan.
August 14, 2023: Landed in Pakistan (Passport entry stamp shows August 14, 2023 due to travel/transit time).
August 14, 2023 – September 12, 2024: Resided in Pakistan (Home base).
September 12, 2024: Left Pakistan and entered Saudi Arabia for a 3-week trip/religious visit staying at my brother’s house.
October 3, 2024: Left Saudi Arabia.
October 4, 2024: Entered Canada (and remained here until today).
I want to make sure I don't trigger any non-routine flags or data discrepancy errors, so I’d love to know how others approached this:
Question 1: Transit Day Allocation (August 13, 2023)
Since I left Canada on August 12, 2023 and my passport entry stamp in Pakistan shows August 14, 2023, how did you handle the address transition for the in-transit day (August 13, 2023)?
Option A: End Canada Address on August 12, 2023 and Start Pakistan Address on August 13, 2023 (to maintain a continuous, back-to-back address history without a gap).
Option B: Extend Canada Address to August 13, 2023 and Start Pakistan Address on August 14, 2023.
(In the Physical Presence / Travel Log section, I have listed my actual flight departure date of August 12, 2023 and arrival date of August 14, 2023).
Question 2: Saudi Arabia Visit (Address & Work History)
During my 3-week trip to Saudi Arabia (September 12, 2024 – October 3, 2024), I stayed at my brother's house before returning to Canada on October 4, 2024.
Address History: Should Saudi Arabia be listed as a residential address, or should Pakistan remain my continuous address up until October 3, 2024, with Saudi Arabia only logged under Physical Presence / Travel History? (My understanding of IRCC guidance is that short-term family/hotel stays while on vacation are travel, not changes of residence).
Work/School History: Should the 3 weeks in Saudi Arabia be left as a continuous transition, or does it need to be logged as a separate short block of "Unemployed" in Saudi Arabia?
