Guls n Guys,

If you are sending an email with attachments, you may want to keep the attachment size below 1mb. Now, i'm not saying that this conclusion is based on any advice from a cic document, just my own experience.

I recently emailed cpp-O and attached a document exceeding 1mb pdf file, i did not get any response for a week. Then i re-sent the email, only with reduced file size around 0.5mb pdf file. I got the response the next day.

Now it could be that initially my email was blocked by some spam filter on their email system (though 1mb is really nothing and shouldn't be blocked...im sure that's not the case and believe me, i want to be wrong on this one!)...or its just that my initial email didn't make much sense to the officer who viewed it at that time and then second time luckily some kind female officer read it and thought...'hey i should respond back, he seems to be a nice guy.' Really, no clue why they dont respond sometimes. But its a good idea to keep your attachments of minimal size and give them a week's time before you re-send your email. Let them know you are re-sending the email because there was no response of your prior email.

All the best.

My email attachment was 2.4MB.. was this the problem?

Sara, this is what im trying to say. I can't say for sure if that's the problem because i haven't seen any CIC instruction telling us to keep attachment size below 1mb. But if i was in your place, i'd resend my email but this time i'd try to reduce the file size, preferably under 1mb.

My attachment was about 3MB... I ordered GCMS notes and should be getting them soon, so I'll let you guys know if they taken in/attach files sent in, which are more than 1MB.

When did you ordered GCMS notes??

hey cec2013 - did you received your gcms notes??

By my estimate (of their processing)...about 2 more days. Lets see what happens. I'll definitely keep you guys posted and publish the notes when they come in. :)

hey guys,

just like i said....my gcms notes came in this morning. i ordered them through the access to information act and paid the 5 dollar fee. received them on 30th day - June 10 to July 10.

read the notes and no surprises there. my files has not moved....except from CIO to CPPO. one detail worth noting is that the email i sent them with my document attachments was never apparently entered. 1. my attachment was 3MB, but i never received notice that its too big 2. never got confirmation from CIC 3. did not ask for confirmation post-email, as i wanted to see what would happen.

strategy hence forth....sending documents: 1 copy electronically and 1 hard copy via mail (also additional confirmation request over email)! this way i will make sure they include it on my file, unlike last time. luckily my file hasnt come up for eligibility yet, otherwise i would have been missing dox.

other than that guys...file sitting as "received" and locked in date is 1yr after my AOR. no other significant notes! i completed rcmp up front and sent with app. nothing completed by CIO, other than preliminary review and application-system entry.

hey guys,

could you please let me know what GCMS notes please? How do I get that? I applied on February, got my file number March 15. I haven't recieved any since then.... thank you!

Do you know how to reduce the size of my pdf document which is aroung 2.5MB??

Hey there Honpredictable....

GCMS notes will tell you what actions have been taken on your file by CIC so far. Its basically a computer print out of your file in CIC's database.
If you are residing in Canada, its free. If you are outside, you will have to ask someone to order on your behalf and that person will have to include $5 payment. All details and the form is accessible here:

All the best.

Thank you Infoseeker12! :) I sent a request today! Hope to hear form then very soon! Thanks again! ;)
